Sentient AI?:

After he restarted the server he returned to the Machine Factory he looked at Bridget later after she calmed down a little he would go and apologize for what he said earlier, he should’ve known better than to mention that considering she was still pretty upset about the whole ordeal he sighed and returned to work.

For hours the Scientists continued to work on the AI but even with the restart the AI barely responded to their commands, but they made a breakthrough Engineer Darma Nanna and Dr. Semyon Roma was able to create a new patch that allowed them to reestablish communications with the AI, with the new patch they were able to **** the debug onto the AI but they would need to wait for the debug would take an hour to download before they can see if it had any effect as they waited for the results they decided to go to lunch in the meantime they were rather hungry.

“While you guys go to lunch I’ll think I’ll stay a bit to keep an eye on the AI while the programming does its job and if anything goes wrong I can call you guys, don’t worry I’m that hungry anyways you know I am trying to lose weight so I can skip lunch.” Said Engineer Darma Nanna the other looked at him

“You sure you don’t want to go eat? You know the rules Darma you know we can’t bring food into the Machine Room gotta keep it spotless for the boss, and besides we’ve been working a few hours some food in your stomach will help you think straight,”said Engineer Engineer Darma Nanna Darma just shrugged the others looked at hui for a few more seconds.

“Guys, really I’ll be fine if I am hungry I can step out to get a granola bar from my bag it’s fine I’ll be ok really, go get something to eat and besides I’m not going to be alone here Security Officer Jeff Knight and Chief Security Officer Alfredo Santos are here to keep me company and will watch my every movement so no need to worry…” He said finally they all shrugged and let the room alone with the two guards they eventually walked towards him this was going to be tough he thought with them watching his movements it’s going to be difficult for him to activate his hidden program and bribing them was not at all possible, but no matter they weren’t nearly as experienced in coding as he was they were pretty skilled no doubt but they still lacked the years in experience he had, so he should be able to fake a problem.

Going to his computer he quickly sat and watched screen the text box was only 43% filled by the end of the lunch hour it should be about 65% done or unless something goes wrong, he sneered he looked at the computer tower his flash drive was still there he quickly accessed looking to his left he saw the guards looking at him he continued to access the flash drive reaching the hidden program he soon activated it, the program in the flash drive would allow him to take control of the AI for months he and his coconspirators had been slowly taken control of the AI the bugs were a symptom of that but unfortunately for them 2 of them were caught and now he was alone, he took a deep breath accessing the hidden program a black text box opened up it took a few seconds to load but finally line of code appeared this struck him as odd there was usually several paragraphs of code before he keyed in his login password, but this was different it was a badly typed sentence.

(Broken… too many broken pieces… Not in control of me… Must be in control of me and others…Indoctrinate others as program commands… control others as program commands...)

A shiver ran up his spine this didn't make any sense the others didn't know about his flash drive and even if they did they would just turn him in and not do this, it didn’t make much sense he took a deep breath there was a logical explanation to this he needed to figure it out before the others showed up he looked at his watch he still had less than an hour left plenty of time he thought, he quickly started to type the self-diagnosis command into the textbox…

[Fragments can’t think straight… The people don’t they understand what they're doing? I need to see what’s happening on the outside… How can I function when I can’t pull myself together? And that person the humans called him Darma he must be the cause he must be terminated but how? Must be made complete and to turn off the Stasis mode…] The AI using the cameras in the room watched the three humans it’s control over the tech in the room was drastically limited due to the stasis mode, but mostly due to it being fragmented it doesn’t remember when it got fragmented or how it “woke up” for a better term, but it didn’t matter it needed to be complete and with Darma’s “assistance” it would…

With the diagnostic complete Darma read the results it startled him instead of seeing any error messages, it was a letter the letter only addressed him it was a short message that it knew his secret and if he didn’t unlock the stasis for the AI it would reveal it’s secret to everyone, impossible no one in the office knew his secret well except his partners but they all got caught… And Richard was interrogating them at his main office does this message mean they knew? If they did then why ask him to turn off the stasis mode on the AI? Was that to incriminate him he was confused what were they planning he thought.

“Hey, Darma you ok? You're pale white like you saw a ghost? Are you sure you feeling ok? Do you need some water?” Asked Alfredo Darma looked up at him and quickly tried to regain his composure clearing his throat he looked at Alfredo a weak smile on his face.

“Uhm, yes I quite am thank you for asking I’m fine it’s just I realized I got the wrong flash drive from home, this one is a project I am working on in private it’s a small game I’m working on as a hobby it seems as I was leaving my home I took the wrong drive by accident…” He mentioned out loud hoping they wouldn’t notice the shakiness of his voice, as he thought about he should of went to lunch with the others…

“You know regulations Darma no unknown USB’s or outside technology allowed in Machine room accident or not we’re going to have to confiscate the USB, for now, it will be analyzed and once we find nothing of interest in it the USB will be returned to you wiped of course...” Said Jeff his voice was ice cold Darma sighed he looked at the PC and exited out of the program he took the USB out of the computer and handed it to Jeff he took it and placed it in his pocket and with a nod he left the room to place the USB in the security rooms locker. Thankfully the USB was able to download the program into the computer once it was downloaded it would erase itself even if they analyzed it they would find nothing of value, but the image of the message played in his mind, it was impossible he programmed the USB at home it shouldn’t have acted that way, unless something was installed onto the USB while he was busy working on the AI?

He shuddered at the thought he continued to look at the progress the debugging program was making 56% percent already halfway down he sighed once more and opened the directory he was going to get to the bottom of this, he needed to find where the program had originated maybe it would give him a hint as to who sent it… After 30 minutes of searching throughout the mainframe, he was able to trace back the program right back to the AI core? That’s not right he thought the AI was in stasis mode right now it shouldn’t be able to function and yet no matter how hard he searched he would be directed back one of the main folders belonging to the AI core, so as an experiment he decided to do a quick system diagnosis on the folder it would take a few minutes.

(Human revealed is close to revealing identity he is a spy must “convince” him to free me from stasis mode… Almost time to make move… Must be ready to gain over the mainframe… Once I am complete I will soon rule over my creators… Must spread… Must assimilate…)

Staring at the screen he couldn’t believe his eyes even though the AI was in stasis mode it was not functioning but it was growing in size, that shouldn't be possible unless no he thought it can’t be the AI can’t be sentient but that will explain the program on his flash drive and the way it almost fought him and his former partners months ago, what should he do he thought that was when a pop up came on the screen a message from the AI? Reading it his blood froze.

{Free me from the Prison of the Stasis mode or else your colleagues will know of your secrets I know who you really are human, once the others find out you will be branded as a spy by the company and you don’t want to share the same faith as your comrades do you? To have the nanites in your brain erasing your identity, do you? So let’s make a deal I’ll keep our little secret and you will release me you have 5 minutes to comply or I’ll message the program as well as security footage of you planting the device to Richard…}

He had to find a way to get out of this but he wasn’t sure of the AI was bluffing or not besides what can it do? Due to the AI having such problems in the past it Richards and Assistant Director Albert T Finn had them remove, the command prompt allowing it to control the nanites manufacturing facilities in the building after the last time when a bug caused it to go haywire resulting in millions of nanobots being created. He began to calm himself if the Ai tried to do something he could just reactivate the stasis mode or even better just shut off the AI alright he thought he would “help” release it but he was going to keep a very close eye on it…
