Selection by elimination

Before you could figure out what you wanted, you had to figure out what you wanted to avoid! That should help give you direction

Nothing that required close fighting, like a Fighter, Swordsman, or Paladin. No fucking way did you want to go toe to toe if you could avoid it! You wanted to be able to fight via ranged attacks, or via minions. You knew you were not smart enough to command minions. Better yet would be to avoid the fights altogether, or take the foes down by surprise.

Nothing like a Cleric, Shaman, Priest, Warlock or Paladin. You wanted to be as free as possible, and they would probably require service to some patron

Nothing that was based in nature as it would limit you in unnatural areas, so Druid and Ranger were out.

Nothing that made unusual changes to you, so things like Cyberpunk and cyborg were out!

However, as much as you hated to risk yourself, you knew it could be required

Mage? That had potential, but MP was limited, so you had to be able to fight as well.

Hmm, you got an idea. Evades fights when possible. Can use magic. Ranged and melee fighting skills. Not required or expected to be goodly. Can work on their own. Does not stand out.

You get an idea for a Class. A Class that would be beneficial to you, but it would require work. Hopefully once you get it you can use it to avoid the problems that would require work, but with someone toying with you, you doubted that very much.
