Seek shelter at a remote farmhouse.

As Maya continues to drive away from the camp, you lay back and consider your options. Going back to the city is certainly a bad idea, but the camp you were planning to shelter in long term is now infested too. After a half hour of driving, you make it out of the woods, but are still on a remote road. You notice with concern that the car's low fuel light is on.

Spotting a mailbox in front of a side road, you instruct Maya to turn inside and see where the road leads. After driving up the side road for a few minutes, you pull up to a old-looking two story farmhouse with white slats next to a barn and grain silo. You don't see any cars parked in front of the house.

Stepping out of the car, you shout out loudly, "Hello, is anyone there?"

You repeat your call several times, receiving no response. You're somewhat hesitant; if anyone lives here there's a better than average chance they're armed, and you don't want to startle them in the middle of the night while you and your two remaining companions are in just your underwear. However, the fact there are no cars around might mean whoever lives here heard the news on the radio and evacuated.

Opening the passenger side door, you tell Maya and Mick to stay in the car while you retrieve a flashlight from the glove compartment. Approaching the barn, you do a quick search to check if there are any cars (or roosting demons) inside. Finding nothing but some sleeping farm animals, you approach the farmhouse's front door and ring the doorbell. After several minutes with no response, you do a quick search and find a key hidden underneath a potted plant on the porch. Motioning for Maya and Mick to join you, you open the front door and call out into the darkened house, "Hello, listen, if anyone is in here, there's an emergency going on outside and we need help."

A quick search of the house shows the lights are mostly out, but there's a radio on in the kitchen and a television on in the living room. Nothing but static is coming from both. A gun safe in the bedroom upstairs seems to have been emptied of everything except a couple half empty boxes of ammo. You figure whoever lived here heard the news yesterday and drove off outta town before sundown. You notice the door to the basement is locked and the front door key doesn't fit it, but you have bigger concerns at the moment.

After raiding the bedrooms for clothes, and finding a few tools laying around, you, Maya, and Mick spend a couple hours disassembling the farmhouse's spare furniture and boarding up all the windows and spare doors. You leave the front door as an exit, but push up a large cabinet against it for security.

With that taken care of, you and your two exhausted surviving companions take whatever bed or couch you can find and crash for the rest of the night.
