Seeing Winter
Winter looked beautiful.
The black dress was a total contrast from Miranda’s bright white one. Again, it was patted down the leg, showing much skin while the top half of the dress left wandering eyes landing on her chest with her cleavage exposed.
He couldn’t get over her hair with those tousled fishtail braids. It looked amazing, so did everything about her.
As he made his way over to her, he even noticed the silver religious cross necklace that she always wore proudly around her neck.
Catching her without her friends, Mark leapt at the opportunity to speak.
“Beautiful,” he smiled at her.
She smiled back, her cheeks a little rosy.
They embraced in a hug as Mark took in her body once again. Knowing she had come into the building with a group of girls, Mark figured there was no male date escorting her inside.
“You didn’t come with a date?” he asked her.
She shook her head, not with a frown though, “No, I was actually asked by a couple of guys though.”
“You said no to them?”
She nodded, “I didn’t want to take someone just to say that I have a ‘date’, I only wanted to attend with someone if I actually did really like them… I didn’t really even know those guys well.”
“That makes sense,” he nodded along.
There was just a minor second of awkward silence as neither wanted to address the elephant in the room. Sucking up his pride, Mark eventually did so to keep conversation ticking, “Again, I’m sorry I didn’t ask you tonight, I really…”
Winter shushed him by placing index finger against his lips. With a smile, she calmed him down, “I already told you multiple times, it’s okay… you were honest with me and besides… you can’t pick Tiffany the next two years so maybe I’ll be a chance.”
He felt more at ease, seeing her beautiful smile and the way she giggled, making a light of a difficult conversation.
“You still open for a dance later on?” he asked her.
She gave him a look as if he has asked her a stupid and obvious question, “Oh you better believe that if I don’t get at least one dance with you tonight, that I’ll never speak to you again.”
Seeing Mark’s puppy dog eyes appear and a worried look on his face, Winter squeezed his arm, “I’m just playing,” she joked, “But seriously, I want that dance.”
“That’s absolutely fine with me.”
After saying that, Winter was joined by one of her friends who had a drink for her. Mark decided to let her go, knowing he would see her later.
