Given the nature of your secondary duties, you would have been surprised to see a Wookie among your canidate to be your apprentice, if it hadn't been for Master Varro approaching you after your briefing. She explained that, while normally they would pair humans with other humans or near human species, there was one exception: the wookie Saberrach. She told you about how, when he was young, he was captured by the Sith and experimented on, as they tried to make a human-alien hybrid warrior. Before they could finish their experiments, he broke loose, killing many of the guards before escaping. He managed to find his way to a Jedi Knight, who, after discovering that he was ****-sensitive, sent him to the Jedi Temple to be trained.

With that in mind, and considering his reputation as a brutal warrior even before his Jedi training, as well as the fact that you were fluent in Shryiiwook, the language that he spoke, you decided to take him on as your apprentice. He collected his belongings and followed you to your ship in silence, with the exception of his loud, thudding steps. It wasn't until you were already in the ship, preparing to enter hyperspace that he finally spoke.

<Where to, Master?> he spoke, his voice a series of howls and growls, and you could understand him due to your time spent with a Wookie warrior who was aiding the Republic before he perished, like so many, at the hands of the Sith.
