Sadie stood outside the mine looking out for stray civilians. So far the day carried on just like any other, aside from the morning’s incident. Nothing usually happened, guarding mines, and it’s not like a mine in a different country could be that much different. Sometimes there is a wanderer every now and then. The carbine repeater tends to scare them off.

“Who made a woman stand guard?”a miner whispered, “Ain’t we got an important industry here?” She walked over to him and the man he was talking to. She kicked the loudmouth in the balls and pinned the quiet one to the wall with her knife. The loud mouth got up and threw a punch which Sadie blocked and twisted. He fell over and scattered backwards. The pinned one finally removes the knife from his sleeve. He raced at her with her knife. Sadie grabbed his wrist and took the knife. She turned him around and pulled the knife through his suspenders. He walked back into the mine, with his pants down and his junk out. The other, she bashed on the head with her carbine. She exited and leaned against the wall.

She awoke a few hours later and noticed a posse of men dressed in black and green ride into town. She kept a clean eye for them. Something looked familiar about them. She pulled out her binoculars and followed them. She gasped and lowered them. O’Driscolls.
