Romantic resolution

You woke up the next day to Mirandas kisses, her hand on your chest and her lips pressed softly against yours. The conversation you’d had before she left was simple. You both wanted to be together, officially, and there was nothing else to consider. When she left she said the magic words “I love you” and you echoed them back to her, not hesitating for a moment because it was true.

From then on the pair of you had a storybook romance. You took her on cute dates and gave her grand romantic gestures (especially on her birthdays) and had the all around perfect relationship. Your sex life was regular, if a little vanilla but neither of you wanted anything more. So long as you had each other, you were happy. Matt and Nicole dated similarly, doting on each other fully. They became a regular fixture on campus, holding hands and spending every free moment together. Occasionally you'd meet up for double dates or to have coffee, your friendship nearly as strong as your respective romances.

For a few months now there’s been something of a running joke amongst the other students. A betting pool on which couple will get married first. Now you hate to spoil other people’s fun but you’ve decided to put an end to that. In fact you were so desperate to finish the debate that you even buried the hatchet and consulted Mirandas best friend, Sarah who until now you’d barely said a word to since the afterparty. But now you think you’re ready to put an end to the idle gossip once and for all.

You just hope Miranda likes the ring you chose.
