“Hey babe, just wanted to check in. How are you doing this morning?”

Robin. Laura’s boyfriend. You’d forgotten about him. You’d have to deal with him sooner or later, but for now, you decided to play along.

“Hey Robin, I’m doing great. Just heading to the bus stop now. How about you?”

You sent the text and slipped the phone back into your bag. You’d have to be careful with Robin. He knew Laura better than anyone else, and if he suspected anything, he could ruin everything. But for now, you had a bus to catch.
