Rick aims to impress

The pair came into the bar, giggling like children and flirting happily. Fiona had put Rick into a hopeful mood and he was determined to show her a good time. She led him to a booth and soon they were seated and chatting over beers.

"So how did you meet Lisa?"

"We met in college. Had a few classes together, but we didn't connect right away. She was actually dating someone else when we met. But it was at a bar like this when we started dating. How about you and William?"

"We were highschool sweethearts and just grew closer as we got older. We started swinging in college after getting engaged."

"It's amazing how you two have made such an interesting arrangement work for so long," Rick said with genuine interest.

"It's taken a lot of work and trust, but its been the vest thing we've ever done together. But you said it was at a bar when you won Lisa over? What happened with that?"

"That's a fun story," Rick said with a chuckle. "She had just broken up with her girlfriend and came to the bar to drink away the her trouble. When she got there, the place was noisy as hell because of this rowdy group of guys shooting pool. One was really showing off, just hustling the table like some kind of pro pool guy."

"I wonder who that guy was," said Fiona slyly.

"I fully admit that it was me. Joe was there too, but i was big man on campus that night. God i was a cocky little shit. So i noticed her watching the game pretty quickly and when we locked eyes, I started playing more towards getting her attention. I was lining up almost every shot so that i could look into her eyes as a sunk another ball in the pocket closest to her."

"Very subtle power play," said Fiona jokingly. She could tell that Rick knew he had been a bit cringy, but weren't most young men and women that were out away from their families for the first time?

"So she eventually realizes what I'm doing and after the game ends, she invites me out for a walk. I was a lot better behaved once I stopped hamming things up in front of my friends. We talked for hours and a week later we started dating."

"That's pretty interesting. Are you still good at pool?"

Rick smiled and got up from their booth and went to the nearby pool table. It was thankful empty, so he racked up the balls and selected a stick before he started working the table. Each shot was perfectly aimed, and within minutes all that was left was his white ball, spinning towards the middle of the table after sinking the 8 ball.

A few other guys had watched him as well and came over to make a bet about beating him in a real game. Fiona gave him a nod, and watched in fascination as Rick played. The cocky young man from his story was nowhere to be seen. In his place was a man of focus and skill. There were no trick shots or boasting, just a few friendly comments and jabs. It didn't take long before Rick came back to the table with over a hundred bucks more than when he had left.

"So next round is on our new friends," he said with a laugh.

"I can see why Lisa was interested. You are really handsome when you are focused on the game. You were clearly in your element there."

Rick blushed and scratched the back of his head shyly. "My grandpa taught me how to play. He was amazing."

"So are you Rick." Fiona leaned in and gave him a sensual kiss. "Lets go get changed. We don't have much time before dinner and I would like a shower."
