Rey never found the droid

"In the world you know, Rey found a droid, BB-8, because the droid had a map to Luke Skywalker, the First Order attacked Jakku, forcing Rey to escape with Finn and BB-8 and begin their adventure" said Asmodatu, "but what if Rey never found that droid"

During the opening scene of **** Awakens, Poe Dameron sent BB-8 away. However this time, Kylo Ren uses the throat to pull BB-8 towards him.

"What do you want us to do with the Resistance pilot?" asked one of the Stormtroopers.

"We have the map" said Kylo Ren, "we don't need Dameron"

With that, the Stormtroopers killed Dameron with blaster fire as Kylo Ren walked into his spaceship with BB-8. With the map recovered, the First Order left Jakku.

Elsewhere on Jakku, Rey had returned to the ruined AT-AT. Of course with BB-8 caught, the droid never showed up and Rey's life would go in a very different direction. The next day, she set out to scavenge.

However after thirty years of scavenging, Jakku was finally running out of ships and parts for Rey to find. At first, Rey didn't notice and it was business as usual, she'd find parts, hand them to Unkar Plutt and receive food portions.

But after two years, 36 ABY, there was barely anything left. Rey, now 21 years old, spent days searching and searching. She finally became **** enough to search a Star Destroyer that she had already searched, hoping to find something she missed.

But no such luck. Rey couldn't find anything. She realised that had to accept that there was nothing left on Jakku and that she'd have to leave. But without a spaceship of her own, she'd have to either beg Unkar Plutt for food portions or steal a spaceship from the Niima Outpost.
