Revelation Video 3 - The Plant's Orders

Another overhead camera shot on the opposite wall showed a room you recognized all too well. Again, Mona walked into the office and met with an older man and woman who you recognized. It was the two producers who recruited you.

Mona shook both their hands and sat in front of them.

“It’s very nice to have you here Ms. Bridgewater. Your agent says a great deal about you, and we think you can play a pivotal role in our next season,” The male producer said.

“What role is this exactly? I wasn’t given specifics or a script for this audition,” Mona asked.

“You will not need a script for this. It will be more… improvisational. We will, of course, direct you and your actions, but how you go through with them... you will have to improvise,” the female producer said and added, “Have you ever heard of the show Island Amour?”

“Oh shit… I mean… excuse me. Yeah, I watch that. This is the season where they have that random guy, right?” Mona asked and then said, “Wait… you guys do reality TV here?”

“Yes... we are the production studio responsible for some reality TV shows, is that a problem, Ms. Bridgewater?” The female producer asked.

“I’m an actress… well, I’m trying to become one. I’m not here for reality TV,” Mona said adamantly.

“We completely understand Ms. Bridgewater. You will be playing a role, don’t worry about that. This role will test out your acting skills, and we believe it will really bolster your career. If you don’t mind me saying... your agent has said you are **** for something to break into the industry, and we believe you can be a good fit,” The male producer said.

“Look… I don’t know about that. It’s one thing to play a part in a play or script but another thing to manipulate real people,” Mona said.

Both the producers laughed.

“I’m sorry Ms. Bridgewater. Yes, these contestants are real people, but they are just, like you, here for an opportunity to show themselves on camera. They all wear masks and play their parts, they just don’t know it or are in denial,” The female producer said.

“Ms. Bridgewater… I’ll be frank. The industry passes notes among themselves, and we heard through the grapevine from a powerful producer named Howard Winston that you were difficult to work with. Come on this show and do what we want, and we can make that go away. Not only that, but our sister network owned under the same parent corporation has a new pilot for a romantic comedy coming along soon. We can certainly put in the right word for you to the producers on that show,” The male producer said clasping his hands together and smiling appreciatively like the devil offering Eve the apple.

Mona thought about it. She looked **** at this point. Mona looked around nervously for an answer. What other choices did she have? Sighing, she asked, “What exactly do you want me to do? I won’t sleep with anyone on the Island.”

“A beautiful girl like you won’t have to. You remember that average nobody you were talking about in this season? Well, and this doesn’t leave this office, Ms. Bridgewater, it seems that he is heading towards being in a strong couple. We know it’s surprising, but somehow, the bugger did it. We need you to just go in there and flash your pretty eyes at him and… well, cause more exciting things to happen.” The male producer said.

“The guy found love, and you want me to break him up? That seems cruel. I mean, even putting him on the Island was cruel in the first place, but now you want to ruin what he got?” Mona asked a faint look of incredulity on her.

Sighing, the female producer said, "Mona don’t be naive. None of these people are in “love”. They are all playing their games for their own reason. These people only knew each other for less than a week, and they are already talking about love and relationships like they understand it. It’s ridiculous, frankly. Even your little average nobody, that boy, is one of ours. He, like you, came here in this very office, and the only way we could get him to play along was to offer him money. He’s exactly like the rest of them. Here for his own reasons and to play a part we gave him.”

Mona nodded like that made sense to her. She was convincing herself to do this.

“And we will give you the same offer we gave him. Ten thousand dollar signing bonus and a thousand dollars every day you last on the island. We will also give you a bonus for every couple you break up. Right now, the Island is on the verge of stagnating and boring viewers. We need you to do what we know you can do best. Act. We won’t **** you to have sex with people, but you will need to play the seductress and drama queen. That may involve kissing and some touching and stepping on toes. Anything you can do to create drama and make things more interesting,” The male producer said.

Mona closed her eyes, and when she opened them, she said resolutely, “When do I fly out?”

How were you supposed to feel for Mona? Sorry for her? No, you couldn’t. None of this excused what she did. So why would the AMA show it to you?

Maybe it was sending you a message. You have the AMA on your side, and you need Mona on your side. You decide to act and stop letting Mona get the better of you. You need to act. Mona is an enemy right now but the AMA can quickly reverse that.
