Chapter 6

Well, you'll leave California. After some time you will return to Pennsylvania.
Return home. Old places and some changes...
The next few days were filled with various chores. You collected your things, completed the necessary paperwork, and bought a plane ticket to Pennsylvania. You will need to fly to Capital City Airport of Harrisburg. Then you will buy a ticket for the local train. You will leave the Harrisburg train station and travel to the small Pennsylvania town of Weerfield.
You will return to your childhood home. You remember with warmth your quiet and secluded life in Weerfield. Of course, the upbringing you received as a child from your Aunt Martha was strict. However, you liked the feeling of security, reliability and stability. You sadly think that your attempt to start an independent life and escape from the watchful tutelage of Aunt Martha - all this only led to the fact that you found yourself in a difficult situation. However, the term "difficult situation" is an extremely mild description of your situation. To be more precise: you are screwed up. You were unable to study normally in college and receive a quality higher education. You did something stupid and got into debt. You have broken your Aunt Martha's trust. She had to pay your debts.
These sad thoughts haunt your mind throughout the next day, which was busy with the process of your move. You thought about your failure as an adult and responsible person. You thought about this as you looked out the plane window. You thought about this as you looked out the window of the commuter train. You thought about this as you walked from the small train station in Weerfield to your two-story house, which is located on the northern outskirts of the city (next to a beautiful wooded park area).
When you entered your house and brought your modest luggage inside, you were greeted by Aunt Martha. She stood in the center of a large central room, which was usually used for receiving guests. Martha looked about the same as before (in your memory she remained exactly like that; you remember how she saw you off before leaving for California - she probably hasn’t changed much since then). In front of you stood a short woman about 40 years old, who was dressed in a strict black skirt (the length of this skirt was just above the knee), an elegant dark blue blouse with lace. Black tights that emphasize the slenderness of a woman’s legs, beautiful black high-heeled shoes. An elegant small nose, pale skin tone, chestnut-colored hair, which is decorated in a neat bob-type hairstyle. The cold shine of gray eyes, which is somewhat reminiscent of the shine of steel.
Martha looked at you silently. You felt uncomfortable. You are confused and start unloading your luggage. But you did it clumsily: several things fell to the floor.
You became even more confused.
Martha's facial expression, her gaze, even her posture - all this expressed one dominant emotion. Irritation. Irritation towards your person.
She said in an icy tone: “So, Billy, you're back. Do you realize the consequences of your foolish actions?”
You answer confusedly, bending down to the floor to pick up the fallen items from your luggage: “What? I…. A…. Well...What do you mean, Aunt Martha?”
Martha continues to look at you with a mixture of irritation and contempt.
She says, “Your idiotic actions and your laziness have led to potentially dangerous consequences. Debt is very bad. A godly person will never be in debt. By borrowing money, you jeopardized more than just your future, Billy! You have jeopardized the future of all your relatives!”
You just mumble: “Sorry... Excuse me, Aunt Martha... I didn’t mean to... Please... I didn’t know...”
Martha doesn't pay attention to your pathetic attempts to justify yourself. She continues: “Do you agree that what you did was unacceptable and harmful, Billy?”
You nod.
The aunt asks: “Do you agree that you yourself and your relatives need to take all necessary and most effective measures to eliminate the dangerous consequences of your stupid act?”
You answer: “Yes! Of course... I agree..."
Martha hands you several sheets of paper that are covered with a lot of text in small print. Your aunt also hands you a pen.
She says: “Put your signature on each of the sheets in the place where I indicate.”
You ask in bewilderment: “What is this? Why is this necessary?
Marta explains: “These are documents with which I can protect your share of real estate and other properties that are associated with your person from the danger of foreclosure. The people you borrowed money from are dangerous scammers. They will spend years trying to get the maximum possible amount of money from any property that is associated with your person. After signing these documents, I will dispose of these properties. I didn’t sign any stupid contracts with these scammers. I can protect our family property."
You put your signature on every place in this documentation that your Aunt Martha points to. She takes these documents and takes them to her room.
Then, your aunt comes back and says: “Move your luggage to your room. In an hour it will be lunch time. After lunch I will tell you other necessary requirements that you will have to comply with, Billy."
You obediently follow your aunt's instructions. It didn't take long to unload the luggage. You left your things in your room on the second floor of the house. The decor in your room reminded you of your years in school. The walls are covered with posters of popular comic book and video game characters. Under your old creaky bed you find an old Sony PlayStation2 video game console. You sigh sadly, thinking about how your life turned out.
Soon you go to the dining room. Aunt Martha sits in the center of the table, carefully eating chicken broth. You sit down on a chair near the edge of the table. You notice that there is a rather meager selection of products on the table. Salad of fish, tomatoes and cucumbers. Coffee. Some sandwiches with sausage and cheese. A bowl of chicken broth.
You remember that before you left for California, meals in this house were much more abundant in the range and quality of products.
Martha meets your gaze.
She says: “Now we have to save money, Billy. And we will have to find new ways to generate income... So stop staring and start eating! After lunch I will tell you what you should do!”
You eat without much pleasure.
After finishing the meal, Martha tells you: “From today on, you will have new responsibilities, Billy. Your aimless existence as a lazy and useless fool will now end. You will no longer be a burden who can only spend your relatives' money in the most stupid way that exists in the world. Washing dishes, washing clothes - this is what you will always do in this house from now on.”
You are unpleasantly surprised. You try to object: “But aunty... I don’t...”
Martha looks at you with a look that does not bode well for you.
She says: “If you want to live in this house and if you want to receive my help, then you will obey me. If you are against these measures, then you will leave this house forever. The choice is yours, Billy."
You are discouraged by your aunt's cruel words. Leaving the home you have lived in since birth, having to look for housing in your poor financial situation, having to look for a job again, not having any help from any of your relatives. All this is just terrible for you...
You are not ready to find yourself in such a critical situation. Therefore, you obediently agree to your aunt's demands. Now you are obliged to always wash dishes and wash clothes.
Martha continues to say, “I thought about ways to earn extra income. For example: I know how to bake delicious apple pies. Every morning I will bake these pies. This will require a significant investment of time from me, but I will still try to achieve an acceptable result. You will call potential clients and advertise these pies. On the outskirts of Weerfield there are many small cafes and other retail outlets. In addition, I will give you the phone numbers of my acquaintances and friends. You will be calling these phone numbers from early morning. Then, you will pack the pies into a bag and you will take these pies to the customers.”
You say timidly, "Aunt Martha, why don’t I try to find a regular job? Why all this complexity?"
Martha sighs and says: “Unfortunately, your lack of higher education is a very negative factor. It is unlikely that you will be able to find any job for which the pay will be different from beggarly. However, in the future I will look for good jobs for you, Billy... But for now you will have to engage in the activities that I am telling you about..."
You were **** to agree with her reasons. Trying to argue with Aunt Martha would obviously lead to very unpleasant consequences for you.
You spent the rest of the day doing various routine things. Including, you had to wash all the dishes.
You are quite tired due to a long journey. Therefore, you managed to quickly fall asleep in your bed.
What will happen to you the next day?
