Rachel looked down at Naomi and realized it’d been all of two days and Naomi had gone from **** into this to more eager and willing than she was. “You said just the first semester, maybe, right?”

Rachel wondered if Naomi would even get anything out of going to college so she tried a different approach.

“What if she just drops out and goes home? She needs to get her head right before she can be a good student anyway.”

“If she comes home she will be kept in the same way until she gets a job and moves out.”

Rachel shuddered but figured arguing wouldn’t help anymore.

“I’ll see you then but remember that I’m her master even around you, she’ll get confused if we give her mixed signals.”

“Of course. See you then.”

They hung up and Rachel wanted to cry but she composed herself. She took a deep breath and walked back into the room.
