Slightly more than three months ago, 'hush-shout.com', a tabloid website focusing on exposing political scandals, posted an article entitled 'Budroe Bitch Balling Big Bronco' with several pictures showing Mayor Staffordshire going into a motel in Shelby with Principal Applegate, and not emerging until several hours later. In many municipalities, this would barely be news, but Budroe is a notable traditionalist community regarding its religious affiliations, (though also politically progressive,) and many residents became incensed that the Mayor would carry on an affair with the High-School Principal, ironically even more so because neither is married and therefore there's no impediment to their simply 'tieing-the-knot' and being 'right-with-God'." Reporters from this paper and other news sources followed the couple and attempered to secure interviews with them to get confirmation of the relationship but were brushed off or given non-committal answers that neither confirmed nor denied the validity of the 'hush-shout.com' article."

"However, Mayoral Challenger Martin Abyssinian used the scandal to make political headway against the incumbent Miss Caroline Staffordshire, appealing to 'values voters' support him as the 'morally superior' candidate. The political struggle between the incumbent and challenger has been reported in this paper for the past four months as we lead up to November's elections: archives of which are available to our subscribers at 'Budroe-Daily-Tribune.com'."

"Momentum had been steadily building for Mr. Abissinian over this issue for the past two months, with latest polls showing the Mayor's lead to have slipped within the five-percent margin of error. No fresh data is available about the impact of this announcement of an engagement by the Principal and Mayor, but it is felt by the staff political analyst of the Tribune that it cannot help but take at least some of the wind out of Mr. Abbissinan's sails on this critical issue, if that will be enough to change the direction of the election remains to be seen."
