Races of the Ancient Machine

== The Aeln ==

Not created by the Deneril, the aeln are descendants of humans brought to the Machine by the ancient creators. They were originally kept within stasis deep within the Machine Proper, but were released by a group of delvers from the Adventurers Guild. Since then the aeln have spread across the world, living alongside the other races in some parts and building their own cities and towns in others. The largest concentration of aeln lie with a collection of cities and small states referred to as the Aeln Dominion.

Aeln – These are the descendants of the humans that were brought to the Machine by the travelers. They have proven themselves highly adaptable to every change the Machine has wrought.

Demkin – A subspecies of the aeln that have developed over the centuries. They are much smaller than the aeln, oftentimes not reaching over one metre in height. They are a curious people that find joy in everything.

Cien – A subspecies of the aeln. Like the demkin they are shorter than the aeln but not to such an **** degree. They are a slender race with long limbs. Their eyes are larger than the common aeln but they are most notable for their extended ears which taper to a fine point. They have adapted to be able to control Machine's magic with a natural skill beyond the common aeln.

== The Run ==

The Run are the descendants of servant races created by the Deneril. Different races were bred for specific purposes but over time and under the influence of the Machine they have changed. They are the most populous of the races that live.

Ferrun – Goat headed ferrun were at some point the most populous race upon the Ancient Machine’s surface. Their civilization met an untimely end at the end of the Machine’s changes. Since then the remains of the ferrun live in small tribes eking out as bandits and mercenaries.

== The Urken ==

Broad shouldered and muscular, the urken are a grey skinned tusked race found mostly in the northern parts of the Ancient Machine. Their origin is largely a mystery, but it has been hypothesised that they were made by the Machine in response to the rise of the aeln.

== The Puti ==

Kaputi - This subterranean variant of the puti are known for their large highly sensitive ears and in some very rare cases the development of leathery wings. They rarely come to the surface of the Machine but when they do they often sell potions and medicines made from the creatures and plants under the surface.
