''How's your father doing these days? I haven't heard from him lately.'' Lavender answers you in a tired voice as she takes off parts of her armor, exposing the thin leather she wears under it as metal armor is apparently uncomfortable to wear on clothes or skin to people without scales. ''Hmm, yeah he's not doing too bad but he's not enjoying himself. We have a lot of good warriors and craftsmen lately but very few exceptional ones so there's a lot of rivalries but no leaders. This situation is good in a war or whenever the whole clan has a common enemy but for the moment we don't have any of that. And then there's the fact that you're still avoiding his idea of marrying me. You know It'd make me very happy if you agreed to that, and it would stop the men fighting each other about courting me. We should talk about that later but for now our guest seems to be waking up.''

''Hey. So, you're not dead yet and we don't plan on eating you. I do have some questions for you, like what reason did you have for disturbing my sleep? I haven't done anything remotely nefarious for almost a century now.'' The knight looks completely gobsmacked, you almost laugh at him but you can imagine a few reasons for him to be surprised. Lavender has no such inhibitions and laughs loudly while pointing at his face and telling him how silly he looks. When you eventually get her to calm down the knight hesitantly speaks. ''I have come here to rescue countess Nerissa's daughter. She disappeared while traversing the trade route to the west of here shortly after a dragon was sighted there. And Merfolk attacks on our ships and coasts have suddenly increased. I'm told dragons have nothing to do with that but you never know with you monsters, you're colluding with orcs now too!''

Now You and Lavender both laugh a little. You have been giving the Merfolk better equipment in return for their materials lately, that could be a factor in their decision to increase their attacks but surely not the deciding one? And you've heard nothing about this countess Nerissa having a daughter let alone that the girl disappeared. You doubt the Elves or Merfolk would have kidnapped her, Lavender's father leads the most powerful orc clan and probably would have told you if they had kidnapped someone important.
