Prologue: Leaving Home (a.k.a Character creation)

Vote 1: What is the name of the young woman?

Vote 2: What is her family's rank?
A1. Commoner [low starting resources, but few persuers]
A2. Titleless [average starting resources, but several pursuers]
A3. Noble [high starting resources, but multiple pursuers, including at least a coupe of Hunters]
A4. Royalty [very high starting resources, but a lot of pursuers, including several Hunters]

People in Alteria belong to one of five groups:
Commoners - the most numerous group. They don't have much, but with hard work they can advance to any of the next groups
Titleless - considerably wealthier than commoners, but not wealthy enough to buy a title and become a noble. The titleless are the second largest group
Nobles - as the name implies, they are people that have a noble title (either bought with money or earned with deeds). They have a lot of resources, but also a lot of responsibilities. They are also a target for the invading demons
Royalty - people who are related to the current Empress or one of the previous Empresses. They have the most money and the most influence - but that also makes them the primary targets for the demons
Disgraced - a special group, all members are people who used to belong to one of the above four group, but somehow lost their rank (usually by doing something incredibly stupid, such as attempting a coup). Once a person has been declared to be a Disgraced it is nearly impossible to regain their old rank

The main character can't be a Disgraced, it is mentioned for completeness (and so that I won't have to explain if the MC encounters any Disgraced later).

The Hunters are demons that specialize in hunting down and capturing or killing important targets. Fortunately they are a relatively low number and so not many of them can be sent after a single target. Therefor most - or even all - of the demons sent after the MC will be regular demons instead of Hunters.

The story's title will make sense once the next part of character creation is published.
