Straight is the quickest path

You decide to wade straight through the swamp, thinking the shortest path means the least obstacles and the quickest time. As you trudge through, your feet start to slightly sink in the bud under the water, making each step harder and harder than the last. By the time you are halfway across you are already starting to feel tired and sore. So tired that your legs have begin to actually start to feel cool and slimy.
