Diana's Investigations
For Diana, the days were also not easy, though as has been stated, she had a different challenge to meet. Instead of being paraded around, Diana did her best to meld into the background. This wasn't easy, especially since it was known that she was sisters with one of the new slaves. She watched, her heart throbbing, as Lisa was made to crawl on her hands and knees. Each time that David had some new game, some new torment, some new test, Diana was there, though she was not always seen. Even though she hated it, even though it made her want to roar her fury to see her little sister treated like this, she knew that she could not. After all, several professors had already noted her presence, and Diana knew that if she was seen to interact in any way with Lisa, then she would be enslaved too.
She couldn't afford that. Not right now. She was, hopefully, immune to being directly enslaved because of the rules she'd made to protect herself, but because of the previous rules, the ones that were now being enforced by the other rulebook, Diana could be enslaved if she was seen to try to help her sister, or interact with her in any way other than as a ****.
The reason she was so often at the scenes of her sister's humiliation? Simple. Whoever wanted Lisa as a **** also probably wanted to see it. Which meant that they would be at such scenes herself. All she needed to do was to collect a list of people who often attended David's games, and then go through them one by one. This proved to be harder than she had first thought, since there were numerous people who quickly became regulars. Worse, Diana realised telling if someone had a rulebook or not would be practically impossible without an extensive check. She didn't have time for that - it would take months to get through everyone - so she came up with an alternative plan. Diana reasoned that anyone who had a rulebook, and who intended to use it against someone else who also had one, would have made rules to protect themselves from being controlled. Therefore, if Diana made a rule about each of the potential rivals, and watched closely, the single one who was not affected would be the one who had the rulebook.
Of course, there were risks to it. For example, if the enemy didn't know that Diana had the rulebook, then if a rule attempted to affect them, but was blocked by their own book, then if they worded their defence correctly, they might realise who had sent it. Moreover, Diana was also aware that the same tactic would work on her. If the other rulebook holder made a rule about each and everyone they thought might have her book, then she would be the only one obviously not affected, and so, they would have found her.
This was why she had to do it slowly and subtly, making minor changes in each possible person that she alone would notice, and only because she was looking for them. That way, she would be able to slowly reduce her list of possibilities, until at last, there would be only one.
Of course, this only meant that Lisa's torment would last longer, which tore at Diana's heart, but she reasoned that this was the only way she could be sure that she would pick the right target. If she didn't, and if she was defeated, then it was pretty clear that Lisa wouldn't be the only **** when the real enemy was done with her.
