Chapter 38 by fantaghiro
What's next?
inviting him in for dinner, forcing you to hide and watch their date.
You listened in disbelief as you heard Randall say in a sultry, seductive voice "George, why don't we just stay in tonight. I was about to start on dinner anyway... and then we can some dessert..."
You could almost picture Mr. Hanson gulp. "Well, Laura, I was going to take you out tonight, but if you're sure..."
"I'm sure," she purred.
You heard the sounds of them kissing some more and some scrambling around. Finally you heard Randall say "we've got to stop if we want to eat tonight. You just sit here and relax. Watch some tv and I'll have dinner ready shortly."
The clack of her heels grew louder and Randall walked back into the kitchen. There was a look of satisfaction on her face that dropped when she saw you. "Tim! Oh, damn, I'm sorry."
"Randall, what the hell was that?" you whispered sharply. "I thought you were going to get rid of him!"
She looked apologetic. "I told you, man, it's hard to think straight sometimes, especially around George. He's very persistent - and convincing, trust me."
You looked at her doubtfully. She shrugged helplessly. "At least this way you're not stuck here alone, waiting on me. Look, I'll have dinner with George, play around for a bit, and then kick him out. It's just a delay of a couple hours."
"What am I supposed to do while you have your 'date'?" you asked, the frustration evident in your voice.
Randall winced. "Look, I said I'm sorry. I'll make enough food for all of us. I've got another tv in my bedroom with plenty of dvds or cable, if you want to watch that. Just be a little patient and we'll still have our 'bros' weekend, okay?"
You could see Randall's sincerity - she really felt bad for all this. It struck you how hard this must be for Randall. Not just stuck with a different life and body, but finding that his own personality and behavior was changing as well. It had to be frightening for him. You immediately felt bad for being so hard.
"It's fine, dude. Don't worry. Go have fun. I'll be okay. Like you said we still have the rest of the weekend to party," you said.
Miss Card's smile was radiant and sent a tingle through you. The real shock, however, was Randall grabbing you in a sudden hug and giving you a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks Timothy, that means alot. You're a very sweet boy," she said. A brief expression of confusion passed over Randall's face and she quickly let you go. "Yeah, uh, thanks dude. You're a real bro," she said, brushing off his strange behavior.
You didn't say anything else as you snuck back to the bedroom. You manage to find something to watch on Miss Card's tv, trying not to think about Randall having a date down the hall. A little later Randall slipped into the bedroom to bring you a plate of food. "Here you go!" she said. "Enjoy. I'll try to keep things short tonight."
To your surprise you DID enjoy the meal. Somehow Randall had turned into a reasonably good cook! You scarfed down the food and continued to watch one film and then another. The evening rolled on and you wondered if you would ever get the 'bro time' Randall had promised.
And of course you didn't. Things instead got even weirder for you when...

The Ultimate Transplant
Someone you know is given a new body & life
PLEASE ADD CHAPTERS! A close friend or family member is horribly injured in an accident. As they lay dying in the emergency room, another patient dies of a brain aneurysm. Both of them are organ donors, so a surgeon decides it's the perfect opportunity for him to try an experimental surgery. He transplants the victim's higher brain (the cerebellum) to the donor's body in an attempt to 'save' a life. Amazingly it works. But the surgery was not approved so the hospital convinces the families to keep quiet, arguing that revealing this operation to the public would bring never-ending media attention to all involved. That means that the patient will have to publicly assume the identity of the donor. What will this mean to your friends and family? Who else will you tell? Although you will spend a lot of time and effort giving support, how will all this alter your relationship to the patient? And how will he or she adapt to a complete change of body and identity? Many transformation stories focus on the change or victim, so I thought it would be interesting to instead have the POV be someone who sees the change from the outside. Writers feel free to explore a change in age, gender, class or ethnicity - and the repercussions that change would have on the main character (and others).
