The loft

Midna raced to the ladder leading to the loft, her bare feet leaving small puddles of water behind her with every step. She scrambled up the ladder, nearly slipping and falling in the process. She only just managed to pull herself, naked and wet, up and over the final rung, just as Link opened the door to his house.

He was almost exactly as Midna has remembered him, dusty blonde hair, deep blue eyes, and a deterministic intensity in his expression that hinted at his earnest courage. He was in the same outfit he had worn while on their adventure together. Only, in the heat of the day, it seemed Link had removed his tunic, leaving it tied around his waist. His lean and muscled torso gleaned with sweat. Maybe it was the fact that she was hiding naked in his house, but the sight of his bare chest made her heart flutter

So maybe Midna had a crush on him, so what. I mean, why wouldn’t she? He was attractive, brave, and dependable, and he was the closest friend she had ever known. She had kept her crush hidden for most of their adventure. After all, she had been an imp for all but the end, and when she had been returned to her natural form, their adventure soon ended.

But now, here she was. In the same room as him. In her natural form. Completely naked. Midna couldn’t think of a more embarrassing circumstance for them to reunite under.

Having been lost in her thoughts, Midna had taken her eyes off of Link. When she looked back, peeking over the edge of where the loft began, she could see him kneeling on the floor. He was bent over and looking at the puddles of water on the floor. Link was always the silent type, but it was like she could tell what he was thinking.

Oh goddesses, she thought to herself, he might find me. Link stood up and walked over to the bath, Midna has been so distracted that she hadn’t realized that he had brought in a bucket of water with him. He carefully poured its contents into the bath before setting the bucket aside. Midna watched as he took one last look at the trail of water. Midna guessed that he thought an animal might have made the mess, he did live in the woods after all, and he wasn’t going to bother with it quite yet.

Instead, Link untied the tunic from his waist and dropped it to the floor. It was then that Midna realized what he was doing. He was going to take a bath right in front of her while being none the wiser to her presence. This was wrong, right? She definitely shouldn’t stay and watch...... right?
