She finds 'something'

You look over at {if Lupe > 0}Lupe, who gives you a thumbs up {else}the clerk who shrugs{endif} and then follow the librarian as she heads to the back of the library and opens a door.

"If you'll wait here, sir," she says, then troops down what look to be dungeon stairs.

"I've never seen anyone go down there before," {if Lupe > 0}Lupe {else}the clerk{endif} says. Apparently she followed you.

With nothing else to do, you check her out.

You've always had an attraction for petite women and {if Lupe > 0}Lupe {else}the clerk{endif} is chubby but very short. She's wearing what looks like a school uniform with a short plaid skirt and a white blouse that's unbuttoned a couple of buttons to show off a bit of cleavage. Considering you never actually managed to talk to a girl while you were in high school but you spent a lot of time fantasizing about it, you've always found that school-girl look to be hot.

"It looks spooky," you say.

"Yeah, I know. I just assumed that was a closet or something."

"Shouldn't you be checking out patrons?" The librarian somehow reappeared while you were checking out {if Lupe > 0}Lupe {else}the clerk{endif}.

"Uh, yeah. Gotta go."

The librarian hands you a leather-bound book that looks like something out of a Harry Potter novel. "I don't know if this is actually legitimate or some crank cult object but it's supposed to be a true copy of John Dee's journal."

She grabs it back and opens it to a page of cryptic symbols. "John Dee called it Angelic rather than Enochian. But this is what we have."

"Cool. Can I check this out."

She shakes her head. "Sorry, this is from our rare books section. But you can photograph the relevant pages if you'd like."

She looks over your shoulder as you put it down on a table and do just that.

"Are you... interested in cyphers?" she asks.

"Sure."

"Really? Me too."

"Well, if I get anywhere with this, maybe we could sit down and review it together."

"Cool."

Shit, was that almost like a date or something? Now you're going to have to research and find out something so you'll have an excuse to talk to her again.
