You were about to head inside following the best news you'd heard all year when you saw the mailbox flag sticking up. Your Mom had never allowed both you or your twin sister Sarah to have a mobile phone, no matter how you tried to word your case. It never made sense to either of us but it was just one of the many rules she kept in place to 'keep us on the straight and narrow’, whatever that meant. Laptops/computers were allowed due to school work(Thank God) but the horrible parental controls put up years ago never stopped you from acquiring a healthy porn addiction.

Nevertheless, with the money from you and your sister’s recent 18th birthday and your access to online shopping, you managed to buy a cheap pre-owned smartphone online. One which from the looks of it has just arrived today. The small brown box with your name on the front and the seller's details listed on the side was small enough for you to stuff in your bag to avoid being seen.

Grabbing the rest of the mail, you rushed inside. Dropping the rest of the letters on the table by the door and rushing upstairs to the second floor. Passing the closed door to Sarah’s bedroom you headed down the hall to your room and locked the door behind you(one of the few privileges your parents had granted).

Now that you had at least some privacy, you unloaded the contents of your bag. Maths, Science, and English books sprawled out onto the surface of your desk quickly followed by the box I’d wedged at the very bottom. You grabbed the box along with some scissors from one of the drawers and cut away at the tape keeping the box secure.

With the phone in hand, it seemed to have been kept in good condition. You’d ordered one of the early smartphone models just so you could have something modern-ish without having to explain to your parents where your life savings had gone. Well, Dad probably wouldn't notice considering he’s only here once a fortnight but Mom sure would.

Holding the power button and booting up the phone showed that it was at nearly full battery. The seller had included some accessories with the phone including a charging cable you were grateful for but it looked like you wouldn't need that for now.
