Bed

To her credit, Sarah didn't ask any questions, and Aaron decided she wasn't owed any answers. The “date but not a date” had decidedly become "definitely a date" and it felt like Luke was already planning the next one.

"I've already eaten," Aaron said to Sarah who was silently waiting for his next words, "so I'm probably going to turn in early." Picking up the shoes and purse, Aaron padded his legging clad feet up the stairs. A bit of a role reversal where the parent moodily goes to the bedroom without saying much to the teenager. He was soon collapsed on the bed.

His mind tried to swim among the ramifications of the day... indeed the last few days. It seems a simple bit of mistaken identity had escalated to the point where so many people here knew him has Erin rather than Aaron. He tried to count up everyone who now knew him as Erin: Luke;; Ted, that grandmother neighbour (Betty?); her grandson Brad who he might have a job at; the ladies at the salon, that other Betty who owned a restaurant and that waitress who worked there; the manager at the bank, the clerk at the DMV; all the people who helped them move in (most of whom are police officers)... Counting more, seeing their faces all of whom saw Aaron as an attractive mother... Aaron drifted off.

Surreal and jumbled dreams came to Aaron, of makeup and corsets and sharing an ice cream with Luke and documents... He woke up during the night finding himself cold and out of breath, naturally because he was still wearing the clothes and cincher. Drowsily stripping them off, he crawled under the sheets and once again fell into an unsettled sleep.
