Try the last door

You try the last door - the handle turns but the door does not open. Unlike the others this door has a brass plate and keyhole under the handle, hopefully one of the keys you took from the cell room will fit this lock, but the idea of trying over ten keys with your back to your pursuit does not please you. Behind you you see the head of the axe as it bursts through the door. You don't have much time at this rate, but maybe you could slow down your pursuit with a well aimed spear thrust through the newly formed hole. You doubt it would do more than injur one of the men, but it might make them hesitate a little and buy you some time. On the other hand, getting through the last door and locking it behind you would really slow them down.
