Chapter 5
by TheProletariat
Who will buy?
The noble woman with the saffron hair.
Her green eyes meet yours, the soft fair skin of a human noble woman. Her cheeks are flushed as she stares at you, admiring. She whispers to a tall man with sullen eyes beside her. He bids a modest sum, and becomes your master.
You are loaded onto a cart with a number of other slaves of different races. You arrive at an estate late in the evening. A humble castle situated upon a grove in the hillside of a mountain. You spend the days doing menial tasks like cooking, cleaning, and other household chores. Many of the house servants were elves though none are allowed to speak to one another.
...
Eyes watch you from the corners of walls, and behind the trunks of trees in the gardens. She floats like air, and leaves a hint of lavender in her wake.
The Leader of the Castle, the Duke of Eisenburg was left his late brother's daughter, the fair maiden Sophie.
...
One evening, during the full moon, you sit scrubbing the dishes in a tub outside the kitchens. The breeze of the forest flowers in bloom fills your nostrils. For all the strife of ethnocide and slavery, this estate is one of the better places to end up. You stare into the forest before you, it is teeming with creatures, like the rabbits who run free. The heavy iron on your neck feels heavier, and the scars of its wear sting and flare. Freedom feels so near..
"You harbor a free spirit, the other servants don't." The fair woman says while leaning on the door frame. "Do not look so frightened, you must've seen me watching you, aren't elves supposed to be perceptive?"
She then looks at the dishes in your hand then frowns, "Put that down. You are to come with me," her voice becomes stern and she takes wistful steps into the forest.
Will you follow her into the forest?
