K.O.

You get bludgeoned out of your senses by an assortment of objects as you fall, spiraling out of control, seeing stars as a bottle of spirits cracks you in the temple. You get winded as a stool catches you across the stomach with it's leg, holding your sides as you plummet downwards. The last think you see is a tankard rushing upwards to greet you before a thunderous clang rings through your ears and everything goes black.

You feel weightless, in a dreamlike state, unsure if it's the game you're trapped in or something to do with getting a concussion. You feel like your swimming in a pool of fog. As you try to get your bearings, you see objects of light appear and encircle you. Three of them in all, they hover around you as if begging you to reach out and take them.

The first is a long deadly looking axe, impossibly long and heavy bladed. As you gaze at it, you get a strange sense of your body shifting, changing. You feel bigger, greater then you are now, taller and stronger. As you pull your eyes away, you feel yourself returning to normal.

The second is a wooden longbow, simple but elegant in craftsmanship. The longer you scrutinize it, the smaller you feel. Not weaker but sleeker, more lithe and bendy, capable of things a normal human shouldn't be capable of.

Finally, you see a staff, surrounded by a magical aura. You can feel the energy radiating from it and as your hand draws closer, you feel power course through you. Your chest, in particular seems to swell with an energy you can't describe. You feel more frail then before but the power within makes up for it. Your hand falls away and the power leaves you light a great exhale of pressure, like a great weight had deflated from your chest.

Perhaps you are not as helpless in this nightmare as you originally thought. If this is a fantasy game then surely you are going to be given the tools to survive and maybe even thrive. With the power offered to you, you feel as if you might just be able to turn this whole situation around. The question is what do you choose and what are the effects of that choice?
