The Fairy and the Human P.1

Lani and John begin walking up the cobblestone street, heading back toward Tally's store.

As they are, there's a small awkward silence between the two and it's eating away at John, so eventually he finds the courage and his words before asking, "Okay, why aren't we talking?".

The fairy looks at him in surprise, looking away once again before saying, "Well, it's awkward".

The duo continue to their destination as John asks, "What is?".

"We're going back to Tally's, remember what happened last time?!" Lani almost lashes out which stuns John as he stops. The embarrassment rushing back from that moment in the back of the tailors into both their heads.

John then looks at the ground before saying, "Lani, i'm so, so, sorry about that, it was just a-".

"Stop" John does as she says before Lani continues on, "Listen, it was embarrassing okay? And I know you're embarrassed too-".

"But I feel like I owe you an explanation".

The fairy stops her pacing flight and looks at the human, she then bows her head and says, "I'm sorry. I'll let you explain".

The two head to a nearby bench and take a seat, John then takes a breath before explaining, "Okay, before I came here, it had been a while since i've... well... y'know".

"Had intercourse" Lani squeaks in.

John follows it up with a sigh before saying, "Yeah, it's rough on Earth, so when Tally... well, showed interest, I was, happy. Hell, I practically jumped at the chance, and then, what happened... well... happened. I'm sorry Lani, really, and I'll do everything I can to make it up to you".

Lani looks at her human companion with a shocked expression, not expecting to hear those words from the man who just looks at the ground, still ashamed at his actions.

Just then, he feels a small body on his shoulder, he turns his head and sees Lani hugging his left shoulder with her entire body.

John looks at his companion with sad, yet happy eyes as he leans a little closer before placing two of his fingers on her back, reciprocating her hug.

The fairy then sighs before saying, "I'm sorry John".

John slightly chuckles, "For what?" He asks.

Lani then looks up at him before saying, "Ever since you got here, i've just been, pushing you along, but really giving you a chance to figure things out. I know it's only been a day, but I haven't actually asked you, are you okay?".

John looks at the fairy once again, smiling as he says, "Not gonna lie, i'm kinda freaking out right now, not knowing if I'll ever have the chance to see my family or my friends again. I guess i'm kinda sad, just hoping they're not in any pain, or sadness. I don't want that for them, but at the same time, I know that... I wasn't truly meant for great things on Earth, i'm not the smartest, toughest, or best at really anything, but here, I feel... free. I feel like i've been given a second chance at doing something, being someone. The freedom of starting over from nothing is, almost great, yet it's incredibly fucking terrifying, but, with you by my side, I know that I can do... anything".

The fairy looks at the companion, tears in her eyes as she looks upon her companion, speechless. Her mouth is open, silent yet screaming as all she can do is plant herself on his shoulder again. Her tears begin lightly wetting the cloth shirt of the man as he leans over, comforting her again.
