Chapter 19 by YZS YZS

Why has Zoey prepared all of this for Finn?

Romantic Night

"Is this part of your plan Zoey?" - Finn asked playfully, as he moved closer to be in front of his plate, with delicious looking food on it. Zoey giggled a bit at first, before nodding with a smile.

"Yea, it was kinda obvious but I've been planning this for a long time and now I saw the opportunity that we were alone and I decided to take you here and you know... have dinner..." - Zoey replied, with an increasing nervous tone. Finn just smiled at her, and shrugged it off, as he found it normal to prepare a casual dinner, he grabbed his fork and knife, but right before he could cut his steak, Zoey asked him to stop.

"Oh wait, I forgot something..." - Zoey said, right before turning around, and looking inside her backpack, as Finn looked at her confused. She took a while to find what she was searching, but when she finally did, she cheered, and took out some candles, that she quickly placed around them, and lit them up, to create a nicer ambience. She tried not to look at Finn while she did it, as she was blushing, he was confused, as he saw her lighting up the candles. He tried talking, but he got nervous all of a sudden, as some ideas about what was happening came to mind, he started stuttering for a while, until he was able to get his words out, right when Zoey finished lighting up the multiple candles around them.

"Uhhh... what is this...?" - Finn asked nervously, which made Zoey nervous too. She had a hard time looking at his face, as she became shy, so she looked down to reply, and hide her blushing face.

"Remember that night at the beach? When we were all alone and we talked for hours?... I thought that night was very romantic until we got interrupted by those goblins... i- I don't want that to happen again tonight... I've been planning this for a while and I want it to go well because I really want this to be a special night... our special night..." - Zoey said, or muttered, as she was speaking to the floor. She was more shy than ever, so she really couldn't face Finn, even then, he got to hear everything she said, and as she got really nervous to see how he was going to react, she couldn't get to see the gigantic smile Finn gave her, inmediately after she confessed her plan.

"Oh, you want this to be... romantic?... like, like a..." - Finn asked, with a little bit of shyness on his tone, because even though he was more confident when he talked with Zoey, he still found her extremely cute, and talking to her in a romantic setting made him nervous. But now that he was trying to confirm his suspicions, he was interrupted by Zoey, who replied quickly, as she looked at Finn.

"A date... a dinner date if you want to call it that..." - Zoey replied timidly, before making a nervous chuckle. Now Finn got to see how shy she really was, her face was fully red, and he could notice how nervous she was, from how she avoided eye contact, but at the same time, tried to look at him in the eye, just to see his reaction. Finn was more surprised that Zoey had planned a romantic dinner night for them, and even though he found Zoey's shy expression quite funny, he couldn't help himself but get a little nervous too.

"Woah, i- i... that sounds nice... really nice, I love this idea..." - Finn said, with a sweet, but shy tone, as he smiled at Zoey, who smiled back, from the excitement that she got after hearing his response. She was never more happy, so she stared straight into his eyes, as they smiled at each other, but this didn't last long, as the both of them got shy, and looked away, with a nervous chuckle.

"You know, let's just start this thing... we can talk as we eat..." - Zoey said shyly, as she tried to change the conversation, and avoid being akward. She looked away to get something else from her backpack, and tried her hardest to calm down, but her blushing was not going away.

"Yea, sounds good..." - Finn replied nervously, as he kept staring at Zoey, thinking about how special this night could become, and what things could happen, and how this moment could change their relationship for ever.

"Let me just serve you a drink, okay?" - Zoey asked, as she leaned forward, to pour a drink in Finn's wine glass. she smiled at him for a brief second, before turning away from shyness, he smiled back, but then noticed the drink she was serving had a purple color.

"Wait... is this wine?" - Finn asked nervously, to which Zoey giggled, after serving his drink.

"No, silly... we can't drink ****, this is just grape juice but I do wish we could drink some wine" - Zoey replied playfully, as she moved on to serving some grape juice on her glass wine. Finn laughed, as he smelled his glass, to see if it was actual grape juice or wine, and confirmed it was just innocent juice.

"So... this is for uhh... I don't know..." - Zoey said, as she raised her glas,s and looked at Finn, who did the same thing as a response.

"Umm, to our friendship I guess..." - Finn replied nervously, before chuckling awkwardly, and clinking his glass with Zoey's, who frowned a little after his comment on their relationship.

"Yep... friendship..." - Zoey muttered to herself, without Finn hearing her. She was disappointed that he still considered her just a friend, but then she realized that it might be because he is also scared to confess his feelings, so she took this as initiative to show more hints of her liking him in a romantic way. This meant she had to approach him, with a more direct manner, while also flirting more, and even though she was nervous to do it, she was determined so she tried.

The two of them began enjoying the delicious meal Zoey had prepared, there was not much talking, with a few stare exchanges here and there, as they both were very shy to talk to each other, specially now that things were more romantic. They both tried to look away, at the beautiful landscape around them, or the gorgeous star filled sky above them, or just anything, to avoid eye contact, that made the both of them blush.

"This is a nice meal... the meat is very tasty, and juicy..." - Finn said awkwardly, as he tried to break the ice, it wasn't the best attempt, but it worked, as they finally got a topic of conversation.

"Thank you, I worked on it for hours so I'm glad you liked it" - Zoey said, with a sweet tone, as she smiled at Finn, finally being able to maintain eye contact for more than a second, before getting shy again, but at least things were getting better, and this made her more confident.

"Is very good... I think you are getting to Faranne's level of cooking, even more..." - Finn said playfully, knowing that this was a huge compliment, as no one could cook better than Faranne. Zoey giggled at his compliment, and blushed a little, before looking him again in the eye.

"Aww... you really like how I cook then, huh?... thank you so much, it really means the world to me to know that you like the stuff I do... I really try to get better at cooking as I believe it is a skill that every girl should at least know, don't you think?" - Zoey asked, with a friendly tone, as she wasn't as shy as before.

"I guess... I mean, there's nothing wrong with trying to learn a new skill, personally I admire it, specially when it’s something like cooking... but I don't think you are obligated to learn this stuff if you are a girl... guys can cook too, you know?" - Finn said, before continuing eating his food casually, and hearing what Zoey had to say.

"Yes, guys can cook too... but you know how people always portray the ideal elven girl to be good at cooking, taking care of kids, being nice with their partners, cleaning around the house and doing all other domestic stuff?... well basically being a wife, that is what elven girls are taught these days..." - Zoey replied, while maintaining eye contact with Finn, who continued eating, and before talking, had to wipe some food off his lips.

"Yea, I get it but elven girls can be badass warriors too... like you, don't you think?" - Finn said playfully, but Zoey wasn't too pleased by his answer, as she frowned, with slight disappointment.

"That's true... but there's nothing wrong with being a nice elven wife... honestly I like that more than being a badass goblin killer" - Zoey said softly, as she tried to imply her intentions, but Finn didn't get it so much.

"So you want to be an elf wife rather than a badass warrior? Who are you even going to marry?" - Finn asked playfully, before bursting out laughing, while Zoey just stared at him, with a disappointed expression, as she failed to express her feelings.

-I suck at this... did he even notice what I meant with that? Probably not... is he just going to see me as his warrior friend for the rest of our lives? I hope not... why can't I just tell him??... oh gosh, why am I so bad at this... how can I let him know that I want to be more than just friends... I want to be your wife Finn!!... I WANT TO MARRY YOU!!... don't ask me about who I'm going to marry because I want to marry you!... oh, he won't listen to me... he is never going to see me as a lover, not even more than a friend... or maybe it's because I can't tell him that I love him... because I'm such a coward... I'm doomed... might as well give up now... no, I love you Finn... I need to be with you, I want to give everything I have just to be with you... I want us to be something more special... I want to learn all the skills that they teach young elven girls so I can be the best wife for you... and have your children... specially have your children... I want to raise some kids with you and, and... uggh, why is everything so difficult and complicated? Why can't I just tell him??- Zoey thought frustratedly, as she couldn't get her feelings out of her mind. She could only express her emotions to Finn in her mind, she really wanted to say everything she felt about him, but she was able to just stare at him, and give him a smile, praying that he would notice her, and make a move, but that has never happened before, so it was clear it wouldn't happen now... except it was happening, as Finn noticed this night was supposed to be very special for the both of them, so that gave him a hint.

"This was a fantastic dinner, it really was but... you said this was a romantic dinner... I don't know why we decided to make it romantic but I liked it... the candles were really nice, they added a nice touch to the delicious food you prepared and I also enjoyed talking with you, like always but I think we could... umm, I don't know how to say this... i- I think I know how we can make this evening even more romantic than this..." - Finn said, slightly nervous, as he took the incentive to make things more interesting for their night. Zoey smiled at him, as her heart stopped, he sparked some curiosity in her, and created all hopes for them to do something special, that was going to change their relationship significantly.

"Okay..." - Zoey said playfully, as they both stood up, after finishing their dinner. Finn chuckled a little, before grabbing her hand, and leading her to another place, not far away, but with a much better view. As they climbed the hill even more, Zoey giggled, as she didn't knew what was going to happen, she was very excited, as things took a romantic turn, and it seemed like this could be the night the two of them would finally be together, as more than best friends...

How is the night going to continue for them?
