Katherine

Lauren walked down the street towards her neighbor's house. She had recently received a call from her neighbor to babysit her daughter for a few hours while she ran some errands, though it was more of the paycheck that Lauren was interested in. Her jaw had actually dropped when she heard that she would be paid thirty dollars an hour for this job!

Lauren didn't even question it as she walked up the driveway to the front door. She rang the doorbell and waited a few seconds. After a few more seconds, the door opened to reveal her neighbor, Hedi Matthews.

"Ah, you must be Lauren." Hedi greeted, stepping aside as she opened the door, "Please, come in."

Lauren stepped in as Hedi ushered the younger woman to the kitchen, sitting her down at the table as she offered her a cup of coffee. Lauren took a sip as Hedi sat down.

"I can't thank you enough for agreeing to watch my little Kathy." Hedi said, grinning ear to ear. "I ordinary wouldn't have bothered with a babysitter, but after certain events, I can't trust her to be alone by herself."

Lauren was admittedly confused by that, but shrugged it off as she sat her cup down. "Well, I'm glad that I can be of help." Lauren responded with a smile of her own, "Now, when do I get to meet the little munchkin?"

"Oh, here she comes now." Hedi answered, looking over Lauren's shoulder. "Katherine, say hello to Lauren."

Lauren turned around in her seat...and was completely shocked at what she saw!

This Katherine wasn't even remotely close to what she was expecting. She was about the same height as her (well, in her specially tailored boots that is; she realized that the girl in front of her most likely a little bit taller than her natural height if she was barefoot).

She was dressed in a pleated skirt, knee high socks, and a pink t-shirt that had a picture of the sun on the front that barely came down past her navel; exposing a little paunch that gave Lauren a sense of deja vu.

But it was her actions that made Lauren start to question things. No sooner had Lauren turned around had this Katherine girl turned a bright pink, covering her chest with both hands.

"Kathy!" Hedi stated sternly. "Don't be rude! Say hello to your new babysitter."

"B-b-babysitter?!" Katherine shrieked in horror...in a voice that Lauren knew didn't belong to a child who needed a babysitter.

"Excuse me..." Lauren began, turning to Hedi with a nervous chuckle. "H-how old did you say your daughter was, again?"

"I didn't," Hedi responded, "but if you must know, Kathy just turned nineteen. You're here to babysit her since I can't trust her to be alone after she streaked her prom!"

"Mom!" Katherine shrieked, turning even redder as her mother told this stranger about the worst night of her life. "I told you it was an accident!"

"Right." Hedi responded sarcastically, "And I'm sure you accidentally been stuffing your bras too."

Lauren sat there in stunned silence as she looked between the two. But after hearing that last jab Hedi said, Lauren actually started to feel sympathetic towards this girl.

Suddenly, Lauren's eyes went wide in realization. She recognized where the situation Hedi described had came from.

She remembered going over to her mother's house for dinner two nights ago. Vanessa had come home early, laughing her butt off as she explained how one of the high school's resident queen bees had streaked the prom, exposing her flat chest to the entire school.

Lauren didn't find it funny then, and she most certainly didn't find it funny now that she saw the poor girl in front of her.
