I press the "call end" button on my smartphone. Who the fuck calls people nowadays? Old people, that's who. I have no time for that - I have a wall to stare at. The curse of having my 18th birthday on a Saturday means that everyone is off work and available to call me and send their wishes. How unbearable.

I look at the clock. 12:14:30. Thirty seconds until the minute I was born. I lie on my bed and watch the seconds pass. Tick. Tick. Tick.

Ding!

A notification pops up on my phone the instant I turn 18. Moreover, my door doesn't move. My parents like to burst into a rendition of happy birthday at 12:15 each year on my birthday, but today they are late. Probably putting the finishing touches onto my cake to make it extra perfect or whatever, but still entirely unacceptable on what is supposed to be the best day of my life.

They can't even do this right. They are such losers.

To pass the time until they finally make it here, I check the notification.

Gem Ladies has finished installing and is ready to open.

I didn't ask for anything to be installed. Fucking phones nowadays with their mandatory updates and bloatware. I open the app to check what it is. Two buttons, "Play" and "Rules" hover over a grid filled with coloured gems. Oh, yet another connect 3 game that wants me to get addicted and then spend money on it. These people are the worst, preying on humans and their addictive nature.

However, being superior than most humans, I decide to give it a go.

Clicking "Play" takes me into the game. A four minute timer starts counting down. I ignore it and scan my eyes around the UI.

What the...

Two things stand out and make this appear different from the other games of this type that I've played. The first is that there's a little avatar standing in the bottom right, who looks just like me. It's even dressed like me. It even looks dark and moody like me.

Is it using my camera to generate that image? That's creepy.

Right at the bottom is a progress bar. To the left of the bar is the word "Nice" and to the right is the word "Nasty". The bar is currently 80% of the way towards Nasty. The GUI indicates that because of this, I require 8000 points to complete the level.

I start idly matching gems while spending most of my focus on the avatar of myself as she checks her phone out of boredom. Even her little mannerisms reminded me of myself.

No, I'm just imagining it I'm sure.

Distracted by studying the avatar, I only have 2000 points when the timer hits 30 seconds, hopelessly short of my target.

Who cares, this game is dumb anyway.

When I only have 15 seconds left, an eggplant emoji starts to slowly drift across the playing area. Screwing up my face at the sudden obstruction, I tap at it. The game turns black and white and freezes. A pop-up box appears.

Timer Bonus:
1 second per nipple tweak

Below, another digital timer begins to count down from 30 seconds.

Gross, a perverted game! And one that was installed on a vicar's daughter's phone against her will. I bet I can sue them over this.

As the timer counts down, another concerned thought pops into my head.

They're not... Through the camera?

I have to know. I reach up and tweak a nipple.

Coloured confetti showers over the screen as a fanfare plays, and the main game timer increases from 14 back up to 15 seconds.

Oh my god they're spying on me!

To confirm, I angle the phone to the side so that neither camera can see me then tweak again.

But to my surprise, the same animation and sound play and my time goes up to 16 seconds.

How?

I spend the remaining bonus time testing the app's power to observe me. No matter what I do - angle the camera away, hide it under a pillow, put my hand underneath my top and bra so not even someone physically in the room could know if I was faking it -  the app is able to tell whether or not I am really tweaking my nipple each time.

This is impossible!

After the bonus timer ended, the pop-up disappears and the game unpauses with my new time remaining of 24 seconds. Still woefully inadequate for completing the level successfully.

Instead of bothering to play the game any more, I spend the last 24 seconds watching the avatar. She now has a somewhat perverse or seductive expression and is tweaking her nipples through her top. Then she reaches one hand under her top, just like I had, and starts making motions like she is playing with her nipple under there.

How can it know? How can it do all this?!

My timer runs out.

Game Over. Choose a punishment:

No bras allowed
Not being completely honest makes your breasts grow (reversible)
When not alone, need permission to leave to go to the toilet

In a normal situation, reading a screen like this would be enough to make me close the app in disgust and uninstall it immediately. But right now I'm too spooked. I decide that just for now, it would make sense to treat the app seriously, and pretend it really is magic. You know, just in case.

Not ever wearing a bra seems impractical. My breasts might only be B cup but they still need support to be comfortable, and if they bounce around the place all day or if my nipples poke through my top, I'm going to get creepy looks.

Needing permission to go to the toilet would be a really frequent problem, and really awkward depending on who I'm in the room with. And what if they say no?!

Not lying shouldn't be too bad, assuming it's just limited to facts and not opinions. And if it gets too tricky, I can just avoid speaking as much as possible. Plus, I wouldn't mind if I grew a couple of cup sizes to be honest. I've always been a bit disappointed that my boobs stopped growing at this size. And it says it's reversible, which the other two don't? So that seems better.

I press the middle option. An animation shows the option being sucked up into the avatar's brain. A final screen says "Remember, every win lets you remove three rules!"

I press OK, and it returns to the start screen.

I now realise the the "Rules" button might not be an explanation of how to play. I click the button, confirming my suspicions. A single entry at the top of a list says "Radical Honesty". Except for that, there's just a back button.

I close the app for now, taking note of just how hard my heart is beating.

It's not real, is it? It's not real.

"My name is Amanda!" I say to nobody. Nothing happens.

It's not real.

There's a knock at the door.
