Chapter 309 by airwreck airwreck

Does life stay boring?

No. They had an interesting proposition.

The following Sunday after our housewarming party slash lovefest weekend Elizabeth invited Talia, Amy, and Adam over for tea. It was the first time we had a tea party so it obvious it was a special reason to invite our friends over to chat.

"Hey, guys!" Talia greeted us with hugs just as Amy's car pulled up into the driveway. "What's up with inviting us over for tea?"

"We just wanted to talk," Elizabeth smiled innocently.

"Are there cookies and finger sandwiches?" Amy asked after she helped her son out of his car seat.

"And yes, I made cookies and sandwiches!" my wife answered, kneeling down to receive a hug from Adam.

"What kind of cookies?" the boy asked. "Chocolate chip?"

"Yes, just for you!" Elizabeth giggled as she led him inside to the living room by the hand.

"So what's up?" Talia eyed us suspiciously while my wife poured us tea. Adam watched, nibbling on his freshly baked cookie with his cup of milk.

Elizabeth looked at me as she sat down.

"Well," I paused for a moment to get the right words, "we kinda want to talk about finances."

"Finances?" Amy wondered.

"Even though we got a great deal on this house and both of us are working, the mortgage payments are still high" Elizabeth explained. "So we are wondering if either of you are interested in moving in with us?"

"It's a big house -- even when we will finally have a baby there'll be four empty bedrooms," I added. "Plus there's a big backyard for Adam to run around in."

"How much will you charge for rent?" Talia asked.

"Cheaper than what you're paying for your tiny one-bedroom apartment downtown!" I replied.

"And I'm sure you'll be happy to finally be out of your father's house!" Elizabeth smirked.

Amy nodded then turned to her son. "What do you think, hon?"

Adam looked around the living room. "This is bigger than my room!"

"Do you want us to show you around the house again?" I asked him.

"Yes!" the young boy cheered, leaping up from his chair and almost spilling his glass of milk.

"After you finish you milk and cookies, Adam," Amy chided.

"Okay, mom," he replied and took a big chomp of his cookie.

"So what do you guys think?" Elizabeth ask.

"We have access to the entire house?" Talia asked, giving my wife and I a sly wink out of sight of Adam's view.

"Yes," Elizabeth nodded, rolling her eyes.

"With the three of us," I smiled at Talia, "we can look after Adam, which will give you more free time to work on your dream of opening a dance studio."

Amy bit her lower lip as she thought about the idea.

What does Amy say?
