Throwing Cammy off of him, Adam assumed a fighting stance and **** himself to forget everything else. It was what Captain Miller taught him: "Concentrate on the task at hand. See the victory before you even begin."

And the fight commenced.

Cammy attacked with a double-jumping roundhouse kick that knocked Shadow Ape to the floor. Slightly stunned, Adam managed to roll out of the way as the soldier attempted to repeat her maneuver. The warrior missed, allowing Shadow Ape to get to his feet and avoid yet anouther roundhouse kick.

"Unarmed combat is a matter of dodging."

It was another of Captain Miller's admonishments. Offensive moves were essential in order to win, but the trick was surviving the defense. Adam let his opponent attack again so that he could watch the woman's technique. Every fighter relied on tried-and-true moves; if you could anticipate what the enemy was going to do, you could avoid the onslaught and develop a strategy to counteract it.

The blond performed the double jump again and walloped Shadow Ape. The Aussie crashed backward into the turnbuckle. He noticed, though, that Cammy had paused slightly between the two jumps. Adam bounced back from the **** and beckoned the patriot to try again. This time, Shadow Ape leaped into the blond's personal space during the split-second pause and delivered two punches, followed by a sharp knee kick that connected hard and violently. Cammy recoiled, surprised and slightly dazed. Adam refused to let his opponent recover. He took advantage of the opening and hit her twice with an open-palm strike. The blond stumbled backward and barely managed to steady herself.
