Scene One

The doorbell rings again, insistently.

SAM: -Oh no! They’re here!

DARRIN: -It can’t be Larry. He barely had time to go home, pick up Louise and come here. Go hide in the kitchen, I’ll take care of it.

Samantha runs to the kitchen and Darrin opens the door. On the other side, we see Gladys Kravitz, their nosy neighbor.

GLADYS: -Good evening, Darrin. Can I talk to Samantha for a minute?

DARRIN: -Hello, Gladys. I’m afraid Sam is not home.

GLADYS: -Really? Oh, what a pity. I wanted to ask her what she’s planning to cook for the charity dinner on Saturday, so we don’t all bring the same food… When will she be back?

DARRIN: -Oh, I’m afraid she won’t be home until tomorrow… She went to… Canada.

GLADYS: -Canada?

DARRIN: -Yes, because… we were all out of maple syrup… and Sam only likes a very specific brand that is produced in a remote village in… Quebec. I will tell Sam that you came, okay? Good evening, Gladys. Bye!

Mrs. Kravitz tries to reply, but Darrin quickly closes the door. He looks relieved. Samantha comes out of the kitchen.

SAM: -Really, sweetheart? You couldn’t think of anything better than “She went to Canada to buy maple syrup”?

DARRIN: -I panicked, okay?

Just then, we see two clouds of smoke, and from them emerge Endora and Aunt Clara. They are both wearing sunglasses and Hawaiian garlands.

ENDORA: -Aloha!
