Chapter 9 by Ebanu8 Ebanu8

Does anything else happen in your rule?

The Integration progresses smoothly

With peace prevailing, strong institutions and men to enforce the law, the new Axumite migrants smoothly integrate with the non-Hebrew Almain communities throughout Ostgrenze. Most have a greater degree of education and knowledge than the average Almain, but they take the time and effort to help and educate their fellow citizens (as per law, of course).

Months pass since your coronation, and the fruits of your rule soon start to bear results.

Many merchants, moneylenders, bankers and other intellectuals make generous donations to the crown’s coffers as well, perhaps wanting to curry favour with you and bolster their reputation.

Architects, stonemasons, carpenters and tailors also settle down in Ostgrenze, plying their crafts and training apprentices in the hopes of attaining greater profits and making a name for themselves in the unknown lands.

Yet, perhaps the greatest help you have in integrating the new migrants was, in fact, Adanech herself.

“So by building these schools, not only can we hope to increase literacy rates across the Kingdom, we also help to nurture future talent for its benefit?” You ask.

“Indeed, my love,” Says Adanech, “Education plays a huge factor in the power of a state; bureaucrats, generals, merchants, all the talents who serve a nation well derive their knowledge and power from education.”

“Huh, and I was mostly taught that education was primarily for nobility or the wealthy elite,” You say.

“True, but that is because the commonfolk of this land do not have the money to afford education,” Says Adanech, “But education also helps them perform better at their jobs; our building of state-funded schools helps in this regard, whilst catering for the poorer citizens.”

“And the architects have done a splendid job of repairing the roads and abandoned forts and watchtowers,” You say, “We hadn’t managed to get to repairing them with our diminished coffers.”

“I suspect the merchants will be expecting some special reward in exchange for their donations, but do note that you must take care to not be taken in by their smiles,” Says Adanech.

“I am aware,” You say, “I’ve had to deal with my fair share ever since I took the throne, but dealing with merchants always wears me down.”

Adanech embraces you in a way that allows her breasts to touch your arm, her globes feeling deliciously soft.

“Well, aren’t I always here to help relieve your stress, my Lord?” She say.

You simply smile in return, letting her do what she wants.

“Though I do believe it’s time I tour the country,” You say, “I believe Kings often do it to get a better insight as to the state of his country.”

“You are right in that,” Said Adanech, “In fact, I believe it a necessity.”

“Will you be fine while I’m away?” You ask.

“Do not worry, My King,” Said Adanech, “I will hold the fort in the meantime.”

You kiss Adanech’s forehead in response.

“Then, God bless you,” You said.

Where do you go first for the Royal Tour?
