This has nothing to do with the unrealistic expectations of youth and general masculine insecurity; Farm Boys across the world have attested to the cosmic hands of fate leading them to their destinies as heroes! Some have mystic revelations given to them, some have wise old men reveal to them ancient prophecies, and others are told of the unusual circumstances of their birth. You had an incredible vision after slipping off of the tavern porch, were babbled at for a few minutes by the old town drunk, and your very promiscuous mother has no idea who your father is, so you're probably, like, a super-hero. Triple the fate, triple the great, that's your motto.

So, heedless of the warning of your elders like all Farm Boys, you embarked to the Local City with a rusting sword and a dream. You are, of course, awed by the size, sounds, and stink of the city, the beauty of the castle, the women, and the many shops. You've never imagined a place like this, etc etc. The point is, you are a Farm Boy, and you are in the Local City.
