Chapter 23 by GreenBean GreenBean

Take the axe?

Yes.

The axe was worn and dull looking, but even a worn axe is a decent bludgeon. The wood was well worn and soft in her hands, but with her strength having fled, she could barely hold the axe up. But she wouldn't let her savior down, and she tightened her grip on it.
"I live down this street here." Jessica offered. The Crow was impassive as ever, but she carried on.
The night was still outside the sound of their footsteps. The streets partially blocked by abandoned carriages... and the increasing number of coffins that need to be taken. Jessica had never been out this late before, and she felt safe here with the Crow. When they were a block away from her home, and loud scream pierced the night. A chill went down her spine. She thought of her aunt. The Crow put out an arm and looked at her over her shoulder, signaling that she should wait, before dashing off.

Follow her or wait here?
