Talk about something else

Walking away wasn't going to do any good, Matt was sure about that. And Mrs. Fellers seemed to have chugged down more than a few glasses of cheap wine.

It sort of surprised Matt that rich people would go to events like this and drink the cheap wine. Yeah, it made sense for the artists to do it because let's face it, most artists aren't rich. But rich peple were supposed to have expensive tastes.

Which they did.

Matt gave himself a minute to look around. He wasn't an expert on fashion but, as far as he could tell, at least half the women here were wearing designer outfits. Mrs. Fellers looked hot in a tube top and skin-tight pants. Other women wore cut-outs. And there was plenty more cleavage on display than the high school cheerleading squad would dare prance out in public with.

As he watched, Mrs. Fellers flagged down one of the waiters and grabbed a couple of plastic cups of wine from his platter... and proceeded to down both of them.

She said she was there to make contacts and hang with L.A.'s social elite but Matt suspected she wouldn't be doing much high-level socializing if she kept drinking like that.

Which gave him an idea. He flagged down the same waiter and held out a twenty.

"Thanks."

"How much has that lady drunk."

"Sorry, I can't tell you."

"I'm her parole officer. I have to make sure she doesn't drive drunk. She... well, last time it was a miracle the little boy didn't die."

"Oh. Well, she probably shouldn't be driving, then."

"Okay, I'll take care of things. Give me a couple of glasses of that stuff, will you."

"Sure."

Matt took the wine and headed for Mrs. Fellers. He really should have made a plan before now but he was reacting to opportunity.

The way he looked at it, he had two options. He could flirt with her and try to seduce her or he could appeal to her money-grubbing heart. Which path should he follow?
