You decide to play it safe and investigate that piece of civilization. As a Tanuki, it was your duty to find a hub of some kind for future buisness ventures. Business could lead to pleasure and mischief, and mischief always lead to pleasure. Of course, this was in the future. You most likely had to befriend the vilagers first, which wouldn't be easy.

And to do that, you had to obseve them and see what they were like. You made your way to this more unrefined community of bustling monsters with little trouble. From the safety and darkness of the tree tops, you could see this village was made up by and make out the risk of future interaction.
