How does Robin fare in her fight?

Another Bravo joins the losers circle

Chapter 33 by NeedAMedic NeedAMedic

The troll charged at his target, head lowered and teeth bared. With his arms spread wide, there would be little Robin could do to escape him once he got close--he would simply be able to reach out and grab her with those bizarrely long limbs. That didn't bother her particularly much though, as Robin's plan didn't involve much running away.

As he ran toward her, getting closer and closer with each plodding step and each passing moment, Robin raised the spear and threw it. The weapon flew through the air in a clean arc, and though he saw it coming, the troll was far too clumsy and had far too much momentum to have much of a chance of moving out of the way.

There was a dull thunk and a sickening squelch as the spear buried itself in the monster's shoulder, and he cried out in rage and pain. His momentum wasn't about to be stopped by something as simple as that, however, and he kept coming, closer and closer.

Robin didn't move a muscle until he was very nearly in range to grab her. Then, when the troll was close enough to take his first swing, Robin dashed inside his reach with a sudden speed. While the troll flailed his grip at her former position, Robin drew her obsidian blade upward, carving across his chest and stomach in a brutally deep gash.

The wound was wicked, and for most creatures--especially humanoids--it would have almost certainly been fatal, but trolls were not like most creatures. Even the troll's organs were highly capable of regenerating themselves, and they tended to be positioned rather strangely in the creature's body on top of that.

As Robin drew back her weapon, ready to strike the finishing blow on a dying enemy, she was surprised to feel his massive hands gripping her shoulders, still full of strength.

"No! Let go of me!" she whined, trying to swing forward, but his grip held her fast, pinning her arms to her side where the sword hung uselessly. Robin could only squirm in place as she was forced to watch as the wound she had gashed across his torso closed up, inch by inch. With a victorious bellow, the troll twisted her arm, causing a yelp of pain and sending the dark stone blade to the floor where it shattered, scattering into a dozens of tiny rocks.
