Assisting in a summoning

Your watch your new master study and scribble on some papers for several hours. What little light filtering in from the windows has completely disappeared by the time he gets up from his chair. He gathers some materials from a drawer, then clears a large area in the middle of the room.

You watch curiously as he first draws a set of large concentric circles on the floor in chalk with the largest one being at least five feet in diameter, then begins writing runes around and in between them. You'd learned basic runecraft years ago but none of it ever really stuck with you, and from your low point of view you can't make heads or tails of the symbols he is drawing out. He takes over an hour dancing around the complicated design, filling in places he missed and occasionally erasing small bits and redoing them. Eventually he feels satisfied with his creation, standing up and exhaling sharply. After surveying his work for a moment, he takes five candles from his desk and carefully places them equidistant from each other along the innermost circle.

You are then slightly shocked when he then looks directly at you. He must have seen you jump slightly as he smiles and reassures you while he walks over to your cage. "Don't worry, this won't hurt a bit." He says as he fumbles with his keys. As he finally opens the cage for you, you slowly crawl out into the open area in front of you. You pause for a bit as you get a closer look at the intricate magic circle. You don't get a full view of it, however, as your master grabs your arm and holds your hand up in front of him. You wince slightly as he pricks your fingertip and squeezes it, forcing several drops of blood out. He pulls you up to your feet and forces your hand out over the center of the circle and forces your blood to drip out of the center of the circle.

Immediately, both of you are knocked down by a huge blast of wind coming from the center of the magic circle. Loose papers fill the air as you prop yourself up, watching the chalk lines on the floor flash and glow a bright red. Lightning arcs between the runes and thin smoke creeps along the floor. Then, with a sudden flash of light, the wind calms down and the debris in the air slowly settles as a mysterious creature now stands directly in front of you.
