The bus crashes.

Erica did not get to enjoy her nap for very long. After they had been driving for a few hours, there was a loud bang that woke her up, followed by the bus starting to veer out of control. The sudden shift in momentum jostled her around, knowing her head against the back of her seat, giving her a headache.

Even though it was difficult, she managed to shift into a seated position. By this point, everybody was terrified. Even the kids had stopped running around. They were still yelling, but now they were screaming in fear.

The bus driver swore, and Erica could see him wrestling with the steering wheel, trying to regain control. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible and the bus went off road, barreling into the shoulder and steamrolling small plants until eventually hitting something immobile and flipping over onto its side.
