Was that enough?
No, but the next one might be
The creature continued to cry out in pain. It was bloodied and had some stakes trapped in its sides. Unfortunately, most of the makeshift trap exploded from the impact, so not as many stakes pierced its hide. It seemed it was going to take more than that to kill this.
Marius sneered in disgust, “This creature deserved a better way...” That was all on Marius’s mind before he got himself back into the moment. His distaste for this situation was palpable. But he wasn’t going to risk his life in giving this beast a fair fight.
The tune wore off and the creature was free again. The sudden freedom was a shock to the pained griffin as it sent it tumbling around off balance. Just when the Rune Blade thought this couldn’t be a harder pill to swallow...how ungraceful of an end this was.
Trying to get the griffin’s attention, Marius ran in with his sword swinging. The startled and confused griffin didn’t fight back as it spent more time trying to avoid Marius and figure out what had just happened. It couldn’t even fly as one of its wings were broken.
It was significantly easier to get the griffin into the next rune. And much like before, Marius was able to set off the trap and another impact of stakes was made against the beast’s hide.
Is it finally over?
