Chapter 82

Would Blair find any help there? Was it deserted? Or would there be more than the expected "cleaning"?
Words before the junk, Blair's arrival
Izohra looked to Blair with a worried expression on his face as he spoke meekly. "I, I've heard horrible things about the junkyard. Is there nowhere else you can think to go?" She lifted a brow and glanced to him and said. "Is it because of the smell? If that is the problem, I know we can do something to improve it. Besides, I am sure there is some useful stuff there." He shook his head and said. "No, its because of the creatures that live there. Cockroaches, mice, rats, and that's not even inside the barrier."
While Blair was making the final turn towards the junkyard, she glanced to Izohra and said. "Hmm, what do you mean by that? Is there an illusion barrier set up there?" He shook his head and said. "No, but junkyards are notorious for being quite foul, tainting even the illusion barriers created upon them. Similar to graveyards and other dump sites." Caesar's head tilted when he heard the words "dump site", turning to look at Izohra while still sitting on Blair's lap. He watched her a moment and asked. "What do you know about illusion barriers?"
Blair slowed to a stop about one hundred feet from the junkyard's entrance and said. "Not much. I know they are pockets of reality that separate the world of the Abyss from normal people. It was designed to protect normal people from knowing of our existence and from the knowledge of magic, right?" Izohra let out a heavy breath before saying. "Well, that is half right." He brought his fingers to his temples and rubbed gently in a circular motion before continuing to speak. "You know about climate change, right?"
Blair tilted her head and asked. "I do, but what does that have to do with this?" Izohra smiled and said. "That is part of what happens when people don't do their part to protect the environment. However, like reality, illusion barriers have their own environments. The reality in which they are set upon affects it in a similar manner. When the area isn't taken care of to the point of becoming foul, like a junkyard, so too does the illusion barrier's space." He reached out a hand to gently touch Caesar's head and scratched it gently, Caesar's eyes closed, simply enjoying it.
After a moment, Izohra began to speak again. "If it lasts long enough, an illusion barrier will form, spawning slimes, demons, and other creatures of that nature within those areas. In a similar way, if a place is taken care of with devotion and reverence, like a church, then the illusion barrier that forms will spawn sprites, dryads, and angels instead. The area which has become fouled or overly taken care of changes what will spawn within those areas." Blair nodded slightly and said. "I see. Well, I guess we'll have some cleaning to do."
Blair drove off the road and turned on the car's stealth mode, causing it to vanish from sight. If anyone had been watching, it would have faded out in a similar fashion to how a Klingon's ship would from Star Trek. She immediately noticed the car's change in performance, taking more effort to accelerate, but that was fine. It was off the road and no one was likely to find it here. They both unbuckled their seat belts and got out of the car. Caesar hopped out of the car after her, letting out a soft bark upon touching the ground.
Blair picked up Caesar, gently stroking his soft fur while looking toward the junkyard. Izohra walked over to her and said. "Be ready for anything. Unlike the city, an illusion barrier has a high likelihood of forming here." She looked to him with a playful smile and said. "Hmm, is it me or are you finally not afraid of me, Izohra?" He started to blush as he looked off to the side and said. "I-I wasn't afraid of you before." His score ticked up to 50. She chuckled, but didn't say anything as she started to walk towards the junkyard, thinking about what she might find within.
Hmm, if things were as Izohra feared, Blair could find any number of things within the junkyard. There are only a few questions left to ask. What would she find? Was there an illusion barrier already established or not? If so, what would she find? Slimes, demons, rats or perhaps something far worse?
(Author's note: I updated Izohra's description within the current info page to give you all a better visual representation of him. I hope you all enjoy it!)

Descent into the Abyss
Man or woman?
I am basing the world off of "The Gamer" by Sangyoung Seong. I wanted to shake it up and add more flexibility.
