Chapter 5 by zonefire zonefire

What's next?

You Coward

The Bullhead landed at Beacon and you still couldn’t get the courage to try out the marker on one of the girls.

Maybe it was because Pyrrha and Yang were really hot and Ruby was cute that you couldn't get the nerve to try anything. You also figured they wouldn’t want you writing on them and would stop you if you tried. There had to be a way to get them to do it voluntarily. You spent the rest of the trip talking to the girls and trying not to vomit. Not a lot of time was devoted to creating your grandmaster plan. You did notice Pyrrha and Yang were glaring at each other a lot when one of them tried to get your attention.

Girls were weird.

You exited the ship with the others and sort of lagged behind. Yang immediately saw some of her friends, slapped you on the back, and ran off. Pyrrha looked relieved, but then several people seemed to be staring at her. It obviously made her uncomfortable and she promised to see you at orientation before rushing off on her own. You were surprised at her action and also a little disappointed you didn’t get a chance to try out this marker.

However, Ruby was still here.

“Poor, Pyrrha.” Ruby shook her head. “I would die if I had to constantly get that much attention.”

“She is really pretty,” you admitted. “Nice and funny too. No wonder she’s so popular.”

“Wait… you don’t know who she is?” Ruby stared at you incredulously

“She’s… Pyrrha Nikos?” You replied confused. There was a sneaking suspicion you were missing something. “A friend and Huntress-in-Training?”

“You really don’t?” Ruby gasped at you and then laughed. “Ah, she’ll tell you later I suppose. Oh, thanks again for not kicking Yang off the Bullhead. She would have been fine, but she might have missed orientation.”

“No problem.” You assured her. There was still something weird about the whole writing your name down on things. You would have to do a lot of testing and now the two of you were alone. Maybe you could try more?

“So I have this thing!” Ruby said, interrupting your thoughts.

“What thing?”

“This!” She pulled out a red and black gun. “This is Crescent Rose!” She transformed it into the scythe mode. “It’s also a High-Caliber Sniper rifle!”

“Woah!” You gasped. “That’s amazing.”

“I love weapons!” Ruby told you. “Sooooo, what do you have, Jaune?” You felt a little embarrassed that her weapon was so much cooler than your own.

“I got this sword,” you tell her, unable to resist her puppy dog eyes. “The sheath also turns into a shield.”

“So it still weighs the same?”

“Easier to carry though.” You replied proudly.

“There’s nothing wrong with the classics,” Ruby assured you. “I like them.”

“Trade you then.”

It was just an obvious joke, but Ruby’s expression was like you asked her to fuck you in the courtyard right there.

“No way!” Ruby gasped out. “Crescent Rose is my baby!”

“I was just suggesting we swap to check out each other’s weapon,” You clarified and she calmed down. “Mine’s a relic passed down from my great-grandfather who fought in the Great War. The blade never dulls and over several generations it only has a few scratches on the side.”

“Woah, cool!” Ruby still looked hesitant, even if she eyed your weapon. “Be careful with Crescent Rose okay?”

“I have no doubt if I tried to use her, I’ll shoot myself in the foot.” Ruby laughed at your joke and you two exchanged weapons.

That’s when you got the idea.

While Ruby was examining the blade of your sword, you quietly pulled out the market and wrote on the handle or her beloved weapon.

Jaune Arc.

This was the final test to see if the marker truly worked. It would put all your fears to rest. Ruby obviously loved her weapon and there was no way she would forget it or pretend it was yours.

“It’s a good weapon,” Ruby said, sheathing the blade back into the shield-sheath before handing it back to you. You took it and handed Crescent Rose back to her.

“Er, Jaune?” Ruby looked confused as she saw your name. “Why you giving me your weapon?”

It worked! This marker truly worked.

“Oh, right.” You laughed and took it back. “Sorry, was just thinking you wanted to see it.”

“It’s super amazing!” Ruby gasped. “I wish I had a weapon like this, but I don’t. I’ll have to borrow one of the school’s weapons. How I got in here when everyone else has amazing weapons is a mystery. I made Yang her gauntlets, but I could never make my own. Nothing suited me.”

“Well, would you like to borrow this one?” You held out her weapon. “It’s my back up weapon and I’m not really good with it.”

“I can’t!” Ruby shook her head. “That’s yours. It wouldn’t be right. I need to find my own.”

“We’re friends right?” You pushed.

“Huh, of course we are!”

“Then, as your friend, I want you to have it until you find the perfect weapon for you.” There was no way you were going to let Ruby go out fighting Grimm without a weapon to protect herself. “If it suits you, I’ll even let you keep it.”

Ruby blinked are you and then, without warning, she wrapped her arms around you in the tightest hug you could remember having.

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

Her words were slightly muffled with her face buried in your hoodie. There was a twinge of guilt though, as you literally stole her weapon and pretended to give it to her.

“I can’t wait to try this baby out!” Ruby cheered as she backed up.

However, she wasn’t looking where she was going and accidently bumped into someone.

“Watch it you dolt!”

You saw a girl with long white hair in a side ponytail. A stunning, beautiful girl with pale white skin in a white and blue dress along with heels. She looked like a porcelain doll and her eyes seemed to drill into Ruby.

“Sorry!” Ruby apologized, as one of the new girls luggage fell off the pile and hit the ground. It burst open and a vial of red dust rolled out. The biggest problem was the seal was leaking slightly and the shock set it off.

BOOM!

A small explosion engulfed the two girls and left a small crater on the ground.

“You idiot!” The new girl yelled.

“I’m sorry!” Ruby wailed again, getting up and hiding behind you.

“Do you have any idea who you’re messing with!” The girl sat up, coughing.

“She said she was sorry,” you mentioned and reached down a hand to help her up. She took it, though looked like she didn’t want to. She was beautiful, but kind of rude. “Name’s Jaune Arc.”

“At least one of you has some manners.” The girl huffed. “Weiss Schnee.” She noticed you looking confused. “The Heiress to the Schnee Dust Company?”

“Oh, right!” You vaguely remember hearing about her.

“And you!” Weiss suddenly pointed to Ruby, who jumped. “Need to stop being a child and watch where you’re going. You wasted perfectly good dust!”

“I apologized, what more do you want?!”

“For you to stay away from me.” Weiss huffed. “I’m not here to spend time with dolts.”

A vein in your head twitched. You didn’t like the fact she was being so mean to Ruby.

What did you do next?
