Chapter 126 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Search the room.

You lift the hatch and gaze down a ladder leading into what appears to be more of a cavern than part of the dungeon. You can also hear the sound of running water. Not wishing to dive straight down until you've exhausted all your options, you tell the party to investigate this room first. You use the light from Niki's torch to pat the area down, hoping to find something the scouts might have missed, though it's difficult in the dark.

Amara goes off on her own to the other wall. Soon, you hear her soft voice from afar. "Niki. Can you come here for a moment?"

"What is it?" Niki asks as she steps up beside her.

"Can you lift me up?"

"Sure thing. Here, take this for a second," she says to you and holds out the torch. You take it.

With both her hands beneath her arms, she plucks Amara up and into the air. The elf pats around the bricks until she presses her hand against one that feels loose. She pushes it in, and suddenly, you hear the sound of grinding stone. The wall in front of them slides down to reveal a passageway. The elf is placed gently back down, and you hand the torch back to your warrior.

"Wow. Good job, Amara," you say. "Guess they didn't bring any elven scouts."

She smiles and curtsies politely. "Please. It was nothing. I was only born with these eyes."

You stare down the dark path. "Uncharted territory," you mutter. "Dare we?"

"We dare!" Niki says as she starts stepping forwards. "Adventure awaits."

As you start stepping through the hall, Eva stops and looks to the wall. The rest of you halt as well and turn around curiously.

Eva slides her hand down beneath where you imagine there to be a sconce, but you suddenly realize that this part of the dungeon has none of them at all. Instead, it has tiny orbs in their place. She twists her hand, and a symbol illuminates for a moment, before each of the orbs light up one after another. It's handy she did that, because after another moment, the doorway rises up and shuts behind you.

"Nice!" Niki says as she immediately puts the torch out, and slips it into her pack. She then draws her mace. "Much better. This is more like a dungeon. Thank the gods."

You continue down the nicely lit all. The carpet in this section has retained its shape much more than in the previous area of the dungeon, and it leads to a old wooden door at the other end.
