In your room

You open the door to your room and notice that Jimmy isn't there yet.

The first thing you do is stretch out on the bed, feeling your muscles relax with each breath, and the tension built up in your torso slowly fades. You smile at the dark ceiling, feeling like another day's work has been done. You were clean, you smelled good and you were comfortable. You felt welcomed in bed, even if you were cold.

These feelings brought you back to the village where your mother was. What was she doing now? What would have happened to her? Was she managing to manage without you? Probably yes. She was a strong, smart woman. You wondered if you would ever see her again. Perhaps. Maybe someday... you heard about watchers who went on trips to other kingdoms, members of the highest rank, in order to acquire new recruits for the Wall. Perhaps, one day, you would get there and, who knows, you could get a pass to visit your old village. Would be nice. You would probably never want to leave there again, and that would cause problems, but... still, imagine what it would be like that day comforted you.
