Chapter 16 by daciasdesire daciasdesire

Here comes the bride...

All dressed in white.

The venue Alexa and Daniel had chosen for their wedding was truly magical. Old world colonial style with modern decorations and touches. The staff at The Treasury Hotel had worked overnight it seemed to transform the beautiful outdoor courtyard into a captivating, turn of the century splendor. Wrought iron chairs ran along either side of the central paved corridor that led to where the couple would exchange their vows. The old fortified walls around The Treasury building painted pale peach. Alexa and Daniel would say “I do” elevated above everyone at the first landing at the foot of the stairs leading up to the battlement walls.

Vinny made his way to Daniel and the other groomsmen who were just starting to assemble in preparation for Alexa’s arrival. Daniel seemed nervous which was only to be expected before such a noteworthy occasion in someone’s life. Daniel’s Best Man and boss producing a hip flask from his jacket pocket to help Daniel calm his nerves before passing it around to the rest of them. The strong fiery spirits igniting a warm burn in Vinny’s stomach.

Father Tobias arrived next along with much of Daniels’ family. The older Priest wished Daniel good luck before making his slow way to the outer wall to take his place. Daniel and his bridal party following the Priest in his white and green vestments to their places at the foot of the wall.

Almost all the seats were taken and every guest arrived when Alexa made her entrance, running only a little bit later than she should be. Perhaps her hair required a few more bobby pins than Astryd had guessed. The classic old Jaguar rolling to a gentle stop on its white-walled tires before Alexa’s father got out of the driver’s seat to let Alexa and the rest of the bridesmaids out.

Daniel knew the moment had arrived when the hotel’s staff began to play the familiar cello sounds of the bridal march over the speakers. The crowd rising as one to turn and watch as Alexa and her bridesmaid made their entrance. Everyone was eager to see what the bride would look like in her dress. A warm murmur going over the crowd as each of the beautiful women made their entrance in their lovely gowns one by one.

First came Gillian. Pale blonde hair shinny like a heavenly sunflower. She beamed with possibly the biggest smile Vinny or anyone had ever seen. She hurried down the aisle nervously to take her place opposite Christopher

Bernice was next, red hair further enhanced to spark alight by the dress. Her pale freckled skin seeming to match the tones of the fabric. Bernice’s eyes sort Vinny from the moment she began her walk down the aisle. The former boxer very much still her sole target at this wedding.

Next was the darker Astryd. The pale pinks of the bridesmaid’s dresses giving her skin and even warmer glow than Vinny had expected. She walked calm and dignified down the aisle, flowers in hand to take her place opposite Kyall.

Last was the very attractive Asian lawyer Melissa. Whereas the other girls had each flashed Vinny a quick look on their way past, Bernice most of all, Melissa didn’t look at Vinny even for second as she stepped past him to link up with her partner for the day Aaron. Not that it really mattered to Vinny as he more than he could wish for in the three other girls already.

The main attraction was always going to be Alexa though. It was her Princess Day after all. She became the centre of everyone’s attention, not just Vinny’s and Daniel when she started her walk down to the aisle to marry the man of her dreams. Mostly. The audience gathered all took note of how beautiful she looked. Her dress immaculate, hair gorgeous and beautiful makeup. As Alexa’s father kissed her on the cheek, telling her again how beautiful she was, how happy he was and how proud, Alexa couldn’t help but take a shy sideways glance at Vinny before putting her foot on the lowest step where Daniel was waiting for her.

Melissa also saw this quick look of Alexa’s, a suspicion of her own perhaps being confirmed.

From there the wedding continued as any other. Father Tobias speaking loud and clearly even well into his sixties. Thoughts of love, commitment and togetherness expressed throughout his address. The wedding followed traditional cues until it came time for the exchanging of rings and vows.

“Daniel, please repeat after me. I Daniel. Take you, Alexa. To be my lawfully wedded wife,” Father Tobias began to incite what Daniel had to say.
