Someone new shows up for the volleyball team

The day went along like any other school day. Kazuma and Satsuki had another lunch together. Near the end of the day, the two had volley ball practice. Their school had two volleyball teams; the boy’s team and the girl’s teams. They both shared the gym for practice, which they would often do together.

Satsuki and Kazuma were warming up for practice with everyone else. Kazuma found himself occasionally glancing at Satsuki. This wasn’t something he did often before the two became lovers. Ever since then, he kept noticing how attractive she was. Sure, that happened a bit before, but this felt different. Before he could ponder on it anymore, the doors to the gym behind them opened and someone walked in.

Looking back, he saw a girl he didn’t recognize. She was wearing a different school’s gym clothes, though he was not familiar with. She was about average height with fair color skin. Her hair was an unusual grayish color, almost silver. It went a little past her shoulders. Her brown eyes had a reddish tint to them. It was hard to read the expression on her face, though the way she was tentatively walking into the gym painted it that she was nervous.

“Excuse me,” the girl began as she approached the teams, her voice was quiet. “I am here to try out for the volley ball team.”

Seeing the prospect of a new member, Haijima almost jumped up and quickly walked towards her. It was like she was excited but was trying to hide it because she was the team captain.

“I’m Haijima,” she greeted as she approached the newcomer. “I take it you are the new transfer student I heard about.”

Hearing that seemed to make the girl’s face go a little red. Her eye’s looking down to the ground, avoiding contact. “Wha..what have you heard?” she asked nervously.

Picking up on that, Haijima reassured her. “Just that you were interested in volleyball.”

The girl let out a small sigh of relief as she gingerly made eye contact with Haijima.

“Oh, yes,” she said as she recomposed herself. “My name is Rieka.”

“We are doing some warm ups before we practice. Would you care to join us?” Haijima offered.

Rieka nodded and Haijima lead her back to the girls warming up.

“She’s pretty cute,” one of the guys near Kazuma whispered.

“That hair. I wonder if she is a foreigner,” another said.

As Rieka approached the girl’s team, Satsuki could have sworn she saw the girl glaring at her for an instant, but it quickly disappeared.
