Chapter 16 by GreenMan123 GreenMan123

Does anything happen along the way?

No

Aside from me walking past a group of centaurs, thinking I was definitely going crazy when I saw an angel streak across the night sky, and nearly succumbing to a succubus, the walk to the Izzet was pretty uneventful. Mel pointed out some of the buildings once I told her I had never been to this area. I learned about the least poisoned bakeries, a cheap blacksmith, a discrete brothel, a trusty doctor, and a hole in the wall food place, which turned out to be an actual hole in the wall that was simply magically stocked with fresh food everyday.

Angels, cyclops, magical angry priestesses, poisoned bakeries, and now magically appearing food. I was beginning to get a headache when we rounded a corner and saw, across an extremely busy and wide road, a tall brick tower with lightning bouncing along wires and rods on the domed roof. Vents belched out steam and and black smoke while a small red dragon circled it all.

I was so entranced by the tower that I nearly bumped into Mel without realizing we had stopped.

"Pay attention" she said as I just avoided our collision.

"Sorry, it's just" I looked back up at the everything that was going on up there, "that's fucking cool!"

She smiled, "Ral is gonna love you, I know it. But for now, feet on the ground."

"Who's Ral?" I asked, my gaze coming back down to focus on Mel.

"He's the leader here, now follow me and keep your questions to yourself, you'll have your answers soon enough." She walked away quickly, or rather, as quickly as her short legs could go without fully running. She darted through the crowd easily, using her small stature to duck under larger things and hop through openings in the wall of flesh. I did my best to follow her to a metal gate that I hadn't noticed earlier, distracted as I was with the lightning tower. It was set in a brick wall two men high, with runes dotting its surface glowing in a vast array of colors.

"Careful here" she said above the noise from the street, "some of these runes will kill you if you aren't invited, actually, most of them will kill you, well if we're being honest, they'd all definitely kill you, but only most would be painful."

I looked for any sign of a joke on her face, but found none.

"Will you teach me how to open that gate without dying?"

"No, but Ral will."

With a touch, the gate opened in front of her, swinging easily open, despite its weight. The moment we stepped into the small walled off courtyard, the noise from the rod ceased. A short paved road led to the tall tower and split, one path went to a set of tall metal doors up some steps with a red dragon insignia and more runes plastered across it, the other went along the side and disappeared out of site around the back of the building.

"Come on stud, keep up" Mel said walking to the doors.

I caught up to her as she reached the top of the steps, then turning on me she said: "remember, stay quiet until we meet Ral, sometimes Izzet scientists find questions annoying, which likely means you'd be used in some sort of experiment turning you into a gelatin monster."

Once again, I looked for a sign of her joking with me, but was not happy to notice nothing of the sort.

"Alright, my lips are sealed" I said, adjusting my shirt.

"Good" she gave a smile and knocked on the door. Mel then quickly yanked her skirt up, flashing her firm ass and black thong at me, before letting it drop back down just as the door was opened by a tall, bald blue woman.

She was wearing green pants and a green sleeveless tunic that showed off her incredibly muscled arms. Her lips were a deep purple and her eyes were a dark blue, almost back. She had an intricate geometric tattoo that wound its way up her arm and just poked out from her tunic on her neck.

Mel straightened at the sight of the larger woman and for a moment, I swore she looked a little intimidated.

"Who is this Mel, we do not allow outsiders here" the woman said in a brusque tone.

"I'm taking him to Ral Zarek, he'll want to see him."

The blue woman looked at me for what felt like an hour, but was likely only a moment. It felt like she was peering into my soul.

"You know where he is, take the human" she said, turning her back on us and walking down around a corner.

I was finally able to get a good look at the inside of the tower when the blue woman left. It was all burgundy and gold, like some fancy Elizabethan house on flashy steroids.

"Who was that?" I asked Mel once I had gotten my look.

"That is Sedva, Ral Zarek's right hand. She's a got a stick up her ass longer than your cock."

Mel looked up a nearby flight of stairs.

"Are you ready to meet the boss man stud?" Mel asked.

Well, are you?
